View Full Version : Chiefs I haven't seen this take on the Manning situation yet...

Assuming that the football gods smile upon the Chiefs, and we land Manning, we know that Cassel will be done. That being said, do you think that Cassel could benefit from Manning and become a workable/serviceable backup? Or has he reached the limit of his ability? (I know he has reached the limit of my patience)

He is a serviceable backup. That's the problem.

I'd kick Cassel in the dick so hard that he would probably have to go to the doctor and get it checked out. Maybe surgery or something. Ice at the minimum.

Don't really give a shit what he does/becomes as long as its far away from one arrow head dr.

I think Cassel has reached his full capabilities. I'm just hoping that Stanzi can benefit from backing him up.

He would make Manning worse. He is THAT bad.

I think we sign Henne and shop Number 7 for a third round pick.

Manning/Henne/Stanzi

Edit: I also feel we can save cap $$ by doing this, especially if Henne commands only 4mill as a backup.

He tutored under Brady and look where that got him.

I fear the dude is hopeless.

We trade him to any team that will offer up a 9th or 8th round draft pick.

But that brings to mind this take on the Manning situation that I haven't seen, though ...

If Manning were a vegetable, which vegetable would he be? I'm thinking carrot, maybe, because some carrots have really big lumpy top parts.

Waiting for Cassel to develop into a true elite QB is like waiting for Elvis Grbac to develop character. Never going to happen.

Cassel would hurt Manning's nerve regeneration...:shake: Bad Idea!!

It's not going to be fun when Cassel is the starting QB again next year.

Don't think anything is going to help Cassel. He is what he is and should be removed from this team.

Get Cassel to restructure and keep him on as your backup.

You think he'd work for $35k a year?

Just imagine the little bonus of seeing Cassel humbled by all this.

I bet he bitches out and demands a trade.

Not even he thinks he's trade-worthy.

The Chiefs are probably going to keep him around because his $5.25M contract isn't very much. It's a little pricey for a backup, but the Chiefs get a backup they at least know they can start without throwing the whole season away. They're not going to sign Henne, because he's going to want a long-term deal. I can't believe this is the case, but keeping Cassel makes some sense if you sign Peyton Manning. I'm not a Cassel fan at all.

Cassel would fail even at fetching Manning his Gatorade.

I doubt Pioli asks Cassel to stick around after a demotion.

He'll end up carrying Brady's coffee again.

I think Manning/Cassel/whatever developmental QB you have on the roster would be a workable scenario.

Sure. First he studies under Brady. Then Peyton mentors him for a few years. Then maybe we can send him to summer camp in Pittsburgh to work with Roethlisberger. Then we arrange a semester-long internship with Rogers in Green Bay. Then we ask Brees to chaparone him at Mardi Gras. Then Eli takes him to Coney Island for a hot dog. It's foolproof!
