We're going to take RRRP to a entirely new level.

What's the record for rushing attempts by a team in a single season?

I disagree. Tolbert fits the role we need better. Sure Hillis can carry a load. But Tolbert is far more complete, which will allow him to operate as a fullback in sets with Charles. He is a threat as a receiver, blocker and short-yardage back. He is exactly what we need, in short.

You have a roster of guys who were flat out a completely different team when Kyle Orton stepped onto the field. Romeo knows it, Kyle knows it, and the team probably knows it.

If that guy's still around, I don't even want to think about the clusterfuck that will be our team morale when Captain Checkdown steps onto the field instead and proceeds to deliver his "perfect" games that he exhibited against Buffalo in 2009.

Let's say we sign Tolbert + Winston and take Tannenhill with the 11th pick. Would that make some of the people around here happy? I know many of you don't want Tannenhill for the 11th pick but I would see it as a step in the right direction.

Chiefs are pushing for San Diego's Mike Tolbert
By Bill Williamson

Let’s not go ahead and assume Peyton Hillis will be a Chief.

The Kansas City Chiefs have other interests. San Diego running back Mike Tolbert will visit the Chiefs on Wednesday. Several teams are interested in Tolbert.

The Chiefs (who are also visiting with Houston right tackle Eric Winston and Seattle tight end John Carlson) reportedly are visiting with Peyton Hillis. He could have an advantage in Kansas City over Tolbert because he played for new Kansas City offensive coordinator Brian Daboll in Cleveland and excelled under Daboll in 2010.

However, Tolbert is no slouch. He is an outstanding power runner, who is also good as a blocker, receiver and on special teams. Both Hillis and Tolbert would be a bigger option to pair with the speedy Jamaal Charles.

Losing Tolbert would further weaken the Chargers. They want Tolbert back, but the fact that he is visiting Kansas City is a sign that he is more than willing to leave San Diego.

Losing Tolbert to a division rival would be a crushing blow, considering the Chargers just lost receiver Vincent Jackson to Tampa Bay.
Do it.

Why not?

We easily could. Given that Cassel is our QB we need as many receivers coming out of the backfield as possible.

Seriously, I wish the Chiefs would play to their strengths in Free Agency. That's why resigning Carr would just be a sick move, but one this team will never adopt in it's quest to be adequate.

I'd take Charles/Tolbert/Hillis/McCluster over Charles(not!)/Jones/Battle/McCluster.

That would be a pretty sick backfield rotation.
- 3 of the 4 are great pass catching RBs
- 2 Power Runners, both can hammer through as FBs
- 1 All pro if healthy
- 1 complimentary speed guy to mix it up

To add on further, opposing defenses would have to stack the box all game long. We've got receivers who can get open. We've got a defense that can keep opposing offenses off the field.

All we need is a dude to chuck the ball.

Chargers in contract talks to keep Mike Tolbert

Posted by Evan Silva on March 15, 2012, 10:49 PM EDT

Kevin Acee of the Union-Tribune San Diego reports that the Chargers are in contract talks to retain free agent running back Mike Tolbert, and negotiations have reached a “critical stage.”

Per Acee, the team wants to know soon whether Tolbert is “in or out,” and may threaten to move on to free agent Jackie Battle if a deal isn’t reached in short order.

Tolbert is a considerably more valuable back than Battle, though, so the leverage game shouldn’t be fooling Tolbert’s agents. Tolbert can pass block and catch passes. Battle doesn’t do either of those things particularly well. Tolbert is also a couple of years younger than Battle.

Tolbert’s market doesn’t appear to be crawling with suitors, however. The Chiefs signed Peyton Hillis instead of him on Thursday, and Tolbert isn’t known to have taken any other free agent visits.
