Is there anybody out in FA that wisened people are high on? Anything better than Jon "6.4 40" McGraw and Sabby Pissinmybeli?

Or y'all think KC drafts a backup for Berry and Lewis?

Depth is important but with Berry and Lewis we're set for as long as the FO is willing to keep them.

People keep looking for a replacement to Lewis but I think that's a huge mistake.

He's solid. He's in position. He tackles. He's coachable.

That's not the type of guy you look to replace.

And the fact we're looking to "add depth" when important positions aren't filled yet with legit starters (QB, RT, G/C, NT, ILB) I want to sick all over my screen...

Just a thought, but could Newman be moved to safety in his twilight similar to Rod Woodson and added as a backup

It really isn't depth. The team used a lot of 3 safety packages last year, especially when facing teams with talented TEs. You need to be three deep at safety.

This.

A third safety on this team is practically a freaking starter.

I've wondered about this myself. Obviously doesn't have the speed for CB anymore. Couldn't be any worse than Donald Washington.

nevermind- just saw this article

Age has not been kind to Newman as his skills have evaporated almost right before our eyes. At 33, he is too old and too slow to make a change to FS and he is undersized for a safety. In the NFC East, the starting free safeties average 6’0” and 207 lbs. At 5’10” and 192 lbs (probably rounded up a bit as most press guide measurements are), Newman would be too small even if he still had adequate speed and wasn’t injured so frequently – not to mention the fact that the last Giants game displayed his less than stellar tackling skills (high hurdles anyone?). Thanks for the all too infrequent good years T-New, but it’s time to go. Given no other alternative, I would rather watch a 24-year old Orlando Scandrick get burned regularly at a cost of only $1.7MM per year ($28.2MM over 6 years but only $10MM guaranteed).

I'd like this pick even if it were as high as the second.

I think we can get him in the 3rd.....but yeah....hopefully he's on our team next year.

We just signed Peyton Hillis to convert him to S (I'm assuming).

That would be ideal. I know in the 2nd could be considered a reach, but he's a reach i wouldn't grill Pioli over.

Guys like him are becoming more and more valuable with all of these athletic TE's teams are using these days.

Either way, we need another young, talented Safety on the roster, and whomever that is should be a rounds 2-4 type of talent.

I would have no problem if we traded down and grabbed him. Shit.....take him in the 2nd....I don't care.

FFS.....the dude just said in the video that he looked up to Eric Berry and plays just like him.

Late round darkhorse - Tramain Thomas. Not invited to the combine for some reason.
