View Full Version : Chiefs Who is our QB on opening day?

Cassel, Quinn, Stanzi, or some other guy?

Pretty simple question.

Quinn.

As long as Quinn gets a fair amount of reps with the first string, he will be our opening day QB. I think he actually better than a lot of folks believe, and he has Crennel and Daboll in his corner.

Except Cassel has Pioli in his corner, and that is all that matters. Sad but true story bro.

As much as it pains me to think about it will be Cassel. I think it will be hard for Stanzi or Quinn to unseat him as the starter.

I'm going with Quinn too, if he gets a fair shake.

If Cassel struggles through camp and preseason and Quinn is solid, I think he gets the nod.

Cassel...although I'd love to watch Stanzi-ball again. As an ND fan who has watched Hawkeye games my whole life due to them being the only game my friends/family watch, the closest I've ever been to making a full-fledged Hawkeyes conversion was during the Stanzi era. Now that Vandenberg is the QB for the Hawks, this is no longer an issue, but it was difficult not rooting for the Stanzi-Hawks. Quinn has always come off as a preppy, prissy biznatch to me, but I'd rather see anyone over Cassel.

I'd like to see Quinn get a shot just because we KNOW that Cassel won't work, but I doubt it happens.

Mr. Laz
03-18-2012, 10:29 AM
I honestly have no idea.

If you rank our QB's by talent then it goes Quinn,Stanzi,Cassel. There is more to being a NFL QB than physical talent. You don't know what is going to happen in the draft and we still don't know just how attached Pioli is to Cassel.

None of us know, some people will declare Cassel just they way the bitched that we would never get Winston or anyone else. There are enough tears around this place, to dam near drown in, because of all the pouting.

just going to have to wait and see

fyi still hope manning sees all our Oline improvement and shocks the nfl world. :D

Quinn is not meant to lead this franchise to the Super Bowl. He's meant to push Cassel a bit more than the other rejects this team has had, such as Palko. I don't know what they can get for Stanzi, so since they don't want him to play, it looks like just another draft pick thrown away. :(

Its gonna be Cassel.

All this activity that Pioli has done in the offseason with these signings is to support his guy, Matt Cassel.

I have to believe that before opening day, he will have finished reinforcing the O-line to better protect him, and he's already reinforced the running game with the addition of Hillis, who doesnt need any fancy sweeps, counters, or off tackle plays to be effective. (I eagerly await the first HB blast where the ILB meets Hillis after a 3 yard head start and said ILB's helmet lands in the seventh row.)

The addition of Kevin Boss was like adding another T to the line to support the run.

Our defense is sound, and a couple players away from being feared.

There's no way that Pioli is going to sign all these guys and then not give "his boy" a shot to succeed because of them.

Cassel may be unseated later, but opening day, 7 will be under center.

That qb lineup looks like a list of rejects from the arena league.

Stanzi will never get his chance, I'm afraid. I think Cassel tears an Acl in camp and Quinn has a seizure. We'll pick up Kurt Warner in a last ditch effort and then win it all.

You are pimping BRADY FREAKING QUINN yet are finding every way to discredit Alex Smith winning a shootout over Drew Brees in a playoff game.

Explain why you think Brady Quinn will unseat Cassel.

What in Quinn's 5 year NFL career thus far is giving you legit hope that he'll unseat Cassel?

I know it's only preseason, but based on what I saw from Ricky Stanzi in his first preseason, I would disagree with the thought that Cassel is the best on the roster.

I have no illusions of him ever being anything more than a solid clipboard holder, but I do know that he has a better arm, has better vision, and showed more moxie in his limited opportunity than Matt Cassel has ever shown.

I have very little doubt that Ricky Stanzi is more talented and better overall than Matt Cassel.

That just speaks to how bad Cassel is.

You may or may not be right. That's why I said Cassel is the best QB "right now". They won't play Stanzi based simply on potential unless their hands forced like injury or Cassel is horrible in camp. Still very doubtful anyone else sees the field besides Cassel.

Rausch

Most don't, but I like Quinn fighting it out with Stanzi for no 2.

Let's just all agree we hate the fact we have Casshole as our starter and that nothing will be done to replace him. Because it's true.

That said our no 2/3 is very promising. Here, for the first time in years, we have 2 players with upside and youth. We have legit NFL talent and motivation for these guys to push themselves.

Mostly due to the fact our starter is fucking horrid and a starting job/huge contract is just hanging out there in front of them.

My point is that, regardless of what the Chiefs do, Stanzi is a better QB right now.

That has nothing to o with potential.

He has more talent and showed he has a better understanding of the game, and better pocket awareness, and a more evolved ability to make reads.

Glad u believe this. Doubtfully Crennel and Pioli see it. coaches will play it safe and go with the Veteran QB 99% of the time unless their hand is forced.

Obviously Pioli is all over Cassel's dick, but I'm not sure Romeo is on the same page. I would say Cassel 70% Quinn 25% Stanzi 5%. I would just like to see a wide open honest competition. I don't think any of them should be given a nod. Let them all play series with the starting unit. Unfortunately, that won't happen IMO. Romeo will bow downtown Pioli at least at first.
