Includes compensatory picks....

11. KC—David DeCastro, OG, Stanford

The Chiefs will round out a great offseason with this pick. DeCastro is the best guard to come out since Steve Hutchinson and will make this offensive line elite.

44. KC—Mike Martin, DT, Michigan

Martin is a great pick here for the Chiefs. He's a tenacious defender with a constant motor. Should cause some havoc for opposing offenses.

75. KC—Mychal Kendricks, ILB, California

Solid pickup here for the Chiefs. They haven't made any sexy picks, but solid all around.

109. KC—Jonathan Massaquoi, OLB, Troy

148. KC—Chase Minnifield, CB, Virginia

184. KC—Chandler Harnish, QB, Northern Illinois

221. KC—Brad Smelley, FB, Alabama

241. KC (via NE)—Junior Hemingway, WR, Michigan

How is he going to cause havoc when he isn't allowed to attack?

Most of the time once a good Olineman get their hands on a defender, it's over. Our scheme has the Dline deliberately engage the Oline which puts them at a serious disadvantage.

I would rather have another safety unless we plan on trading Dorsey or something.

He's probably going to walk next season, so drafting his replacement isn't a bad idea.

I'm sure Smelley and Flowers would become good friends.

is martin a NT or 5-tech?

Neither, really... he's not a great fit for the 3-4 defense.

If we had to squeeze a square peg into a round hole, he's a 5-tech. He's "only" 300 lbs.

That would be a fantastic draft, but he's undervaluing some guys.

Minnifield will go sooner than that, IMO. Really, Kendricks could as well.

I could absolutely live with that draft, though I agree that Martin's an odd pick. Using his own draft, Still or Ta'amu would be far better picks at that spot. Even Chapman.

The more I look through his whole draft, the more I question it; that's a bizarre draft, IMO.

Huh? You're insane. He's a 3-4 NT, yeah he could play in a 4-3, but he is a much better fit in a one gap 3-4... unfortunately we don't play a one gap. I'd still take him if he was there in the 3rd. Dude has a 33 1/2 inch vertical leap.. that's amazing for a 305lber.

BUT he is definitely NOT a 5-tech. Not even close.

He is almost the exact same size as Josh Chapman... he is a few pounds lighter but stronger.

DeCastro's not a sexy pick?
He's probably one of the safest picks in this entire draft class.
