View Full Version : Music My favorite new song in a while

Just when I lose faith that much anything good comes out of Nashville anymore songs like this one come along and I don't feel like jumping off a bridge just yet heh. In a "Red Solo Cup" world it's nice to know someone still writes lyrics that aren't targeted to the pop/country crapfest audience. David Nail is my favorite new artist and has a lot of great stuff... some others I've posted in the Random Music Video thread and I understand some people will think I should have put this in there too but we all need something to be butthurt over daily.

:)

David is from Kennett, Missouri btw. I like the references to Seger, Springsteen and Haggard myself.

A few of the on screen lyrics are wrong but you can pretty much figure them out.

'neath... not near
labor... not label

Give it a chance maybe? Even if you don't like the style I bet a lot of people will get the point.

Thanks. Enjoy if you will.

I like it, its a far cry from the likes of Kenny Cheeseny, his voice reminds me quite a bit of Vince Gill, just a bit deeper.

Great piano work but the best stuff is the slide guitar, at its best the slide is on par with bagpipes for haunting sounds.

Sorry there was no reference to guns, pimpin, bitches, ho's or any general headbanging, drug use or shotgun blasts.

I've never shyed away from cheesy anyway.

Meh it's all good we can't all dig the same things. I don't think David was trying to invoke Springsteen just using him as a reference.

I'm a huge Springsteen fan myself.

The slide guitar is awesome. David Nail makes no attempt to do the same kind of music as Chesney and company, which I like about him, and his last single went to #1 anyway... "Let It Rain." Probably never be a huge star but often times that's a good sign.

Glad you enjoyed. I got one! Heh.

Kelly Clarkson at the CMAs singing "Don't You Wanna Stay" is one of the most remarkable singing performances I've ever heard.

Well I just listened to 30 seconds of Let it rain and OMG :banghead: it just proves that at #1 the people listening to this shit are the same people Hollywood is catering to with all their remakes and dumbass releases.Who the fock cares if it's really any good the masses will suck it down like a vegas blvd hooker.

Give me your opinion on this 2007 release that I think should've been a #1 but the "masses don't want to hear the lyrics and be reminded where we really live."

If you think Let It Rain is the bad stuff out of Nashville you should hear the Luke Bryan/Toby Keith/Brantley Gilbert/Jason Aldean stuff that rules country these days. Nail is a breath of fresh air compared to the vapid padlum that rules the format anymore.

OK I'm a fan. Love the instrumentals... the percussion and bass lines are far from predictable. Not blown away by the vocals but his lower key approach works and his guitar playing more than makes up for him not being the greatest singer ever... not that he's bad. Good lyrically. I'd like to hear more. Maybe you could pm me some suggestions.

Be who you are... i didnt really start to appreciate country music until atleast age 30 & even then only in 'tasteful' doses... purist oldies like Cash, Williams, Cline etc.

As my tastes mature, though... i've found that i almost love it all with good music, well done music is well done, one half of my closest family are rural based country/bluegrass/folk people... in so many ways, country is who i am.

I still get those who refuse it, but it still hits all of the same notes as rock & blues.
