Chiefs OT Branden Albert Changes Agents

Kansas City Chiefs left tackle Branden Albert has changed agents, Liz Mullen of the Sports Business Journal reports.

Albert has hired Joe Flanagan and Brad Leshnock of Wisconsin-based BTI Advisors to replace Todd France, who represented Albert coming out of Virginia and negotiated Albert's five-year, $15.752 million rookie contract that included $9.195 million in guaranteed money.

Entering the final year of that contract, Albert is scheduled to make $2.7175 million in base salary with a $200,000 workout bonus.

The 6-foot-5, 316-pound Albert has started 60 of a possible 64 games over his first four seasons in the NFL and is coming off a 2011 season where he started all 16 games for the first time in his career.

I don't know about that. He seems like the type that might sign an extension. Just a gut feeling. His desire to change agents is interesting too.

I don't think so. Todd France was the agent who got the rookie contract worked out. These dudes from Wisconsin are the one he changed to.

As long as the agent's name isn't Ethan Locke or Scott Boras.

I thought you couldn't franchise tag a player two years in a row under the new CBA?

I think you can, but the price tag goes up significantly every time.

Maybe that's the 20% increase that keeps sticking in my head.

It is 20%. On the other hand, Bowe for two years at 9.5 and 11.4 is a pretty good short term deal.
