The Kansas City Chiefs signed free agent defensive back Mikail Baker, the team announced.

The 6-foot, 205-pounder entered the NFL as a seventh-round draft choice of the St. Louis Rams last year.

Baker was placed on injured reserve prior to the start of his rookie year before being released by the Rams on Oct. 13, 2011.

The Baylor University product played in 50 games (13 starts) during his collegiate career with 52 tackles, 1.5 tackles for loss, five passes defensed, two interceptions and two forced fumbles.

He also played receiver for the Bears, catching 26 passes for 354 yards (13.6 avg.) with two touchdowns. He owns 83 kickoff returns for 1,963 yards with one touchdown.

Baker is regarded as the most prolific kick returner in Baylor history as he holds the school’s career records for returns (83) and return yardage (1,963).

I still think KC should add the bestest defensive lineman ever released in Ryan McBeano. I bet he could play NT at an All-Pro level.

Hmmm... Maybe a good return man? I'd rather not see McFumble returning anything anymore. Arenas isn't that explosive- Maybe this is Baker's time to shine? :hmmm:

ROFL Probably not

He's a career broke dick. Had a season-ender last year with the Rams, injury problems throughout his 2009 season where he only played in 3 games, totaling 6 years of college eligibility due to medical redshirts. Also, four of those years at Baylor he was a WR/KR until he got converted to CB/KR.

It looks like we're pretty much going to keep him around to make other broke dicks like Tony Moeaki feel strong and powerful.

Any significant injuries? (Acl, bones, etc..?)

Could it be that they want Javi focusing on NB full time now, and CB in case of injury to Flowers/Routt?

Makes sense if they do that, but its an extra roster spot in a league where KR are less important now bc of rule changes.
