Some people will look at this video and think "ahh poor kid just wanted a foul ball and the big mean grown ups took it." I see the total opposite. This should be a lesson kid...life is tough, you wont always get what you want, and crying wont make things better.....but then again, I would have probably given the ball to the kid, just to shut him up o:-)

I guess I'm on the fence on this one. If it were me, I'd give it to the kid. But if someone caught a ball next to me and my son, I wouldn't automatically expect them to give it to him.

What would you do if you had a kid on either side of you? Give it to the one that cries the loudest?

I don't think the parents were expecting it, either. They seemed to be smiling and telling him that somebody else caught it and that's okay.

I dunno, I might have given it to the kid, but then again, I've never caught a foul ball (or tossed ball or whatever) at a game, so maybe I'd tell the kid to jump off a cliff, cuz it's MY DAMN BALL AND I'M GONNA KEEP IT FOREVER

Off topic a bit, but I sat near the dugout a couple weeks ago at the Royals with my mom and I can tell you I could barely protect myself let alone someone else from this foul ball that was hit. Luckily it hit the seat (empty of course). If you sit where foul balls are remind people (including yourself) to cover up your head if you can and to pay attention, you only really have time to protect yourself.

It's not, but your choices are looking a like a first class douche in front of the country or making a little boys day and giving him a ball that you probably give two shits about later on. I'm sure right now they would trade the ball for the embarrassment

Before a Chiefs game a few years back, Tony G pointed to my girlfriend and threw her a football. There was no one around her when he threw the ball (it was while the players were stretching) and this probably 10 year old kid came running out of nowhere while the ball was in the air and caught it in the row in front of her and ran back to his family all happy and shit. I wanted to rip that little asshole's head off and put it through the uprights. She is still crushed by that to this day, lol.

I'm convinced after seeing this type of dumbassery year after year, if I got a ball I would find the nearest kid and toss it to them. You can make a kid's day and you can remember it for the rest of your life, or you can have a baseball in a junk box for 20 years. It's not like it's a HR ball.

Dude may think he'll get 'tang for giving her a $5 ball, but hell get more by showing he's a unselfish guy who's nice to kids.

For Christ's sake, just give it to the kid so he'll STFU! Screaming children don't really set the mood.

Keep reinforcing their cry baby spoiled brat behavior by giving them gifts for their inappropriate behavior. At least the couple that got the ball got a memory out of it. It was their first Rangers game. So they get the elusive foul ball and have to give it up to some whiney brat? Screw that. I'd take that ball home and give it to one of my 7 kids they reportedly have.

I think the main point here is being missed. They didn't keep cutting back to this kid with updates because it was such an amazing human interest story.

It's because baseball is boring.
