Oops I crapped my pants

Oops I crapped my pants are biodegradable, now that's good for the environment.

I literally started getting woozy when they climb out on that yellow arm and look down. Around 1:10 or so.....

I thought it was a chute at first, but it was just a backpack. It takes some balls (or lack of brains) to do that with nothing to keep you from falling to your death.

with nothing to keep you from falling to your death.

I'm pretty sure the water would do a fine job of that.

Prevent them from falling to their death? Do you think they would actually survive that fall?

Well the water would definitely prevent them from falling further.

From that height they'd be shark chum

No, it was an attempt at a joke. The water would do a fine job of preventing the fall (as in massive deceleration trauma).

Nah. As soon as they hit they water they spread their arms and legs out (under water) really fast and that will stop them from going down too far so they don't drown.

I've watched the Chinese do it in the Olympic high diving before.

I wonder if they got in the dive position before the hit the water.....which would happen?

1. The impact would break their neck.
2. They'd survive the impact but drown before they could make it back up the surface.

1, after their skull was crushed.

Water from waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay closer than that is like concrete. They would pretty much explode when they hit from that distance.

Human terminal velocity is achieved at about 1800ft. You'd probably hit the water at about ~120mph. At that speed, water isn't much different than concrete...

From that height, hitting the water is pretty much like hitting concrete. There is a reason they aerate the water at high dive competitions (which are about 1/10th that height.)

Edit: What KC Fish said...

The water's surface tension would be like concrete at the open speed they'd be traveling. There's no diving, just dying.

You're all wrong. It would be more like hitting asphalt, not concrete.

Oh yes. Anyone who has ever water skied and skipped across the lake like a stone after losing the rope at speed knows this.

You guys. All he has to do is stick his arms and legs out after he hits, that will slow him down underneath the water and he'll be fine.

He'll have to kick like a sob though as I'm sure he'll be 20 ft or so below the surface.

Look how they hit the water.

Really disappointed they didn't base jump it or anything. At the beginning it reminded me of a documentary I watched called Flight of the Frenchies. These guys mix base jumping and slacklining. Its pretty epic:
