It wasn't a difficult play, but glad he made it. I would still rate his arm below average wouldn't you?

Come on Fever, other teams haven't been pitching around Gordon and Frenchy. That's bullshit

DeezNutz
05-20-2012, 12:42 PM
Yeah, Frenchy inspires a lot of fear.

One more reason to love Johnny Go Go...he doesn't cinch up his gloves after every pitch.

Moose made a nice play, but good field and you get a true hop.

2 on, nobody out and Gordon, Hosmer and Pena limpdicked 2 weak trash ground balls and 1 very soft pop-up.

BigMeatballDave

Squandered 2 on, no outs.

Should have gone in spikes high, feet first.

Al Bundy
05-20-2012, 01:38 PM
Yeah Royals bats gone completely limp. Seitzer saw 7 runs last night and realized something needed to be tinkered with. 7 runs is too much scoring for Seitzer.. he is the Herm of hitting coaches.

Frenchy playing unconscious today. 3 for 3

Upton put his hands up and said "here you go Frenchy, here's a triple for you"

Al Bundy
05-20-2012, 02:10 PM
Yeah I'd say Seitzer tinkered.. those runs were far too much for his liking.

I said this the other day, but I guess I'll say it again. Anyone who thinks Seitzer should be fired should be hit in the face with a shovel. There's absolutely no point to it. This team was 13th in baseball in OPS coming into today. Guys like Dyson and Escobar look like legitimate ML hitters, Butler's on his way to a career year, Moose has adjusted to the big league level... and I think he squeezed about as much as humanly possible out of Francoeur. Unless you think he zapped Hosmer's brain there's no reason to fire the guy except for stupidity.

I agree with everything except Dyson looking like a legit ML hitter; this is far from the truth.

Well, I'd say someone is was a HUGE fan of Seitzer back in the day. :)

Personally, I'm sick of the complete lack of clutch hitting in this line up.

Valiant
05-20-2012, 03:27 PM
And what was up with the lineup today? The yesterday made more since with the make up and how each person was hitting..

Al Bundy
05-20-2012, 03:33 PM
It's either Seitzer not being good at what he does or it is the hitters not being good at what they do. One of the 2 is the problem, and you can't fire every the lineup.

Al Bundy
05-20-2012, 03:36 PM
When you allow 2 runs you should win the game. BTW I hated Seitzer as a player I always thought he was way over-rated.

Not really. I do believe there are players who perform well in clutch situations... but I don't think that's teachable at all. You either have it or you don't. I don't think guys like Michael Jordan or Tom Brady performed well in clutch situations because coaching... it's a personality thing, and just getting used to and being comfortable in pressure situations.

What's the problem?

This team was 13th in OPS, 13th in slugging, 18th in runs scored coming into today. If Hosmer and Gordon pull their heads out this is probably a top 10 offense.

The pitching staff is 25th in ERA, 25th in ER allowed, 25th in walks, 23rd in strikeouts, 29th in quality starts, 26th in OPS against, 28th in WHIP.

The pitching stinks we know that, but the hitters have been awful this year. There have been a few games but other than that I have seen a lot of 1, 2 and 3 run games.

Hoz is not hitting, Alex is not hitting.
Seitzer is not the problem. Guys who are being counted on need to earn their money and hit in the clutch. Especially Alice with his new contract.

It would be nice if eventually MLB contracts become more in line with honest future potential and less "OK you've been great we'll pay you for what you've done for someone else in the past and assume it will continue for the next 5-10 years" but it won't happen.
