View Full Version : Chiefs So with Jon Baldwin kicking ass in OTAs...

1. Fuck all the haters last year and this offseason. He's not a diva. You're all divas for having your period thinking he's a diva. Has he proven shit yet? No, but he sounds focused, studied, in shape, and beastly. He's CLEARLY taken the steps to make himself an elite player, exhibiting very un-diva-like behavior. As long as he keeps this up (no reason to expect him not to) I don't see any possible way that he could turn into a bust because he didn't work hard enough, didn't do the right things, or isn't good enough. Basically, the football skills are there. And he's never fucking had behavioral problems. Go fist a cow, dumbasses. Thomas Jones is a punk ass pillowbitergot who should have gotten his dick ripped off after he pulled that shit last year.

Not sure if this has been posted yet. Haven't seen the thread. Either way, check out this interview:
http://videos.kansascity.com/vmix_hosted_apps/p/media?id=144585461

Bunch of player-speak and Patriot way language. But with his fantastic practices and now this, it sounds like the dude flat-out gets it. He understands football, and he understands this team.

2. If Baldwin performs like I think he's capable of performing this next season, we are fucking stacked at receiver. Nobody knows what the hell is going on with Bowe, but if Murphy's Law goes into effect and Bowe really wants triple digits on his new contract or something, we should show no hesitation to rally behind Baldwin for a season. Baldwin and Breaston isn't the same thing as Bowe and Breaston, but that's still a deadly top-2 WR combination. It's better than the Turds and Chargers in our division, and if Baldwin does what I think he can do, I think those two are better than Thomas and Decker. And I think Decker's a pretty damn good receiver.

But let's think happy thoughts instead. Bowe wants to play in KC. He said that much. It's very likely we'll get the damn contract done. And when we do get the contract done, I think we'll see the Killer Bs (lol getit amirite?) that we thought we were gonna see last year. Hell, I think we'll see a 3-WR combination that's top 5 in the league. No question.

He's displayed enough real flash to warrant plenty of enthusiasm, seemingly saying & doing all of the right things, the sky is the limit if he keeps on this track.

But he does still have much to prove, his rookie production, while being hampered by several scenarios, was no better than a guy like Crabtree's, whom many consider a relative bust... the good news is that i believe Baldwin is more naturally gifted, more physical & capable of the circus play.

Hopefully he keeps on chugging the kool-aid.

My hope is that Baldwin falls to us or that we trade for Larry Fitzgerald if his price tag is reasonable.

Either would be a homerun and would elevate this offense to another level.

Baldwin would be a perfect fit for this offense IMO.

Baldwin would be a perfect fit for our offense. Great hands. Great blocker. Fast. Great in red zone. Always gets open.

If he fell to our pick and there wasn't an elite NT or OLB available, he would be a great
pick.the sick part is that with the trade down, we got Baldwin AND an elite OLB with the pick.

The WR position on this team is perfect.

Sign DBowe and see what he and Baldwin can do for the next few years.

Not that difficult.

Now beyond that, I think one of them is going to get dealt, and I think its Bowe so long as he is worth the contract we will sign him to this year.

Not to be a Debbie Downer or anything, but why is everyone so damn certain that he'll tear things up? Even near the end of last year, I don't remember him being all-star or anything.

Don't get me wrong - he's got all the potential in the world, and has a chance to be one of the best receivers in the league. But let's not crown him just yet. So many things have to go right for him to reach his potential, and to assume them all is to set ourselves up for disappointment.

All 3 of them?

Maybe I missed it but was there a big "I hate JB" fan club?Well, I'm using the term "hater" pretty loosely. I got sick of all the shit Baldwin was getting immediately after we drafted him. People calling him a diva with a bad attitude who didn't even know a single goddamn thing about the guy other than that incident where he called his QB a POS. Then the Thomas Jones thing happened and what do they do? Blame Baldwin. It was all his fault. It couldn't possibly be that a player who has a HISTORY of locker room fights like Thomas Jones was being his usual punk-ass bitch self.

Then Baldwin started playing. And really, he started playing pretty well. He was a rookie with ol' shit-for-QB Palko. He demonstrated in the San Diego game that he's got the ability to play in this league, and really seemed to have a connection with Cassel.

After the season ended, people already fucking wrote him off as a bust just because he had a rough start. They'll tell you they were just being "reasonable" about their expectations regarding Baldwin, but these are the exact same fucking assholes who were calling him a loser when we drafted him.

Not the majority of posters. Well under half. But still a significant batch that I felt like chewing out.

heh, so now fans are drooling over OTA reports? ROFLThe dude clearly understands football. I don't care if that information comes via an OTA report or from the voice of God in a burning bush.

What I'm saying is this: "As long as Baldwin keeps up the same work habits for the rest of the offseason and throughout the regular season, he's going to dominate. There's a good chance of that happening; why the hell would he stop doing what's working for him right now? Therefore, it is likely he will dominate."

What about that do you disagree with? If you're hung up on the part about the OTA report, first try reading about Baldwin's offseason activities. Read what Romeo has been saying about him. Tell me that kind of dedication doesn't sound like the kind of dedication exhibited by the Megatrons, Larry Fitzes, and even the Dwayne Bowes of the NFL.

OTA reports are only worthless because it's a long offseason, and rises in production during OTAs usually mean nothing unless you understand WHY they're doing so well in practice. I've already accounted for that in my explanation.

Go fist a cow.

Even in OTAs, WRs have a DB covering them.

QBs dont have a pass rush to worry about.

I didn't say there is no one covering them..I'm saying there is no threat of being laid out like there is on every play with real competition. You can be fearless as anything knowing you won't get popped.

I bumped it because of Hitlers like you, man.

I've seen Baldwin play. I heard about his routine. I've heard he's getting early returns on his investment. That's all I need to hear. The math checks out. The dude should be a beast this year barring injuries/meteors/Thomas Jones.

I'm not going to go into this gay ass retarded shell that some fans use around here. "Oh, I don't want to post any prediction TOO bold because it might be wrong! I don't want to make an early assessment because that would require me to actually look at a player's strengths and weaknesses."

I'm trusting my football IQ on this one to generate my opinions. And if you can't trust your opinions, then what can you trust? I guess you could just type out, "I like the Chiefs I hope they good this year but I don't know yet so I not say anything" in every football thread. Then everyone else could do that. And then we'd be a reasonable, honest, place for true fans to come talk football like Arrowhead Pride or some other garbage fucking forum like that.

Fuck. That. Baldwin's doing 1000 yards receiving this year. That's not even that bold of a prediction. I'm just choosing to trust myself over acting like a little bitch.

Uh, I don't think this place has been lacking for bold predictions. You can barely go 3 posts in a thread without people trying to make bets over predictions. But then you pretty much admit your prediction isn't very bold at all, so I don't know what your dick waving was all about in the first place. Your prediction is even less bold with Bowe holding out, so big whoop, you think the guy who will be the 1 receiver is going to get 1000 yards.

I like Baldwin and I think you're blowing any negative reaction over him way out of proportion. I haven't heard hardly anyone say much bad about him other than what's his face (guy who changes his username every 30 minutes) and even then it was pretty much factual about his drops last year.

I really don't get whatever the fuck it is you're rambling about with your football IQ and other garbage. Hell if you couldn't predict this based on what's been going on I'd wonder if you had hardly any IQ at all, let alone any pertaining to football.

where is all this yardage going to come from exactly? Are we trading for Aaron Rodgers or something I dont know about?

That's 3500 or so yards for Cassel. Perhaps a bit high, but if you want to reduce our "budget" of passing yards, you can take from somebody else. Baldwin's going to get his no matter what.

Cassel got approx. 3500 in 2010 with a well-oiled running game. I'm expecting the same shitty 2010 Cassel to show up again, so it's really not all that out of the question.

Cassel got 3100 in 2010. That's nowhere close to 3500. The difference of 400 yards is very important to a skill players stat value. He hasnt come close to 3500 since that stacked New England squad. And you can make a good argument he's only gotten worse/will never come close to that mark again.

That's the problem with the yard distribution. If the QB we had, had any passing talent whatsover, like most NFL QBs on good teams, I would agree with you. But the inconsistency of the QB makes the skill players stats suffer big time, especially in the pass. There are not enough balls to go around for all these guys to "get theirs." And that is the reality of it.

Baldwin isn't getting close to 1,000.

He's a deep threat and does his best work outside the numbers.

That doesn't jive with Cassel's turkey arm.

He'll top out at 600, maybe 700 if he has a HAM game.

Might grab 7-8 TDs cus he's such a redzone beast, though.

Assuming Bowe plays, Baldwin will be lucky to break 600.

The only way he does better than that is an early season QB change with exceptional play by the new QB.

SNR, I commend you on sticking behind Baldwin. I agree, I think the guy is gonna be pretty damn good. But like a lot of others, I just feel there are a couple major question marks. And they have nothing to do with Baldwin. Will Cassel bounce back and at least perform adequately like in 2010? Will Bowe be back before the regular season starts? Those 2 questions will make a major impact on Baldwin's numbers this year.

I felt Baldwin was the guy for this team before the draft and was excited he was chosen. I think he does have some issues -- for example the derogatory comments* about his college coach during a presser were weak, but he managed to pull through it without making more stink than already made.

Then came the bust hand and a strange tweet that was later deleted by deleting the acct of his associate, whomever it was.

But, I'm with the crowd that accepts WR diva behavior **AS LONG AS IT IS BACKED UP ON THE PLAYING FIELD. But alas, Baldwin has put this behind him, behaving like a guy who wants to suceed this season.

He's a beast, much more like TO than any player previously compared to Owens. Baldwin is bigger and faster though and like Owens, he likes contact. He catches the ball better than Owens, too.

He likes going on those intermediate routes across the middle. I fully expect him to own corners & safeties much like TO did during his first years in the pros and the ally oop is going to be his signature. Jmo.

* Baldwin stated "Heck yeah I'm leaving. It can only get worse. They had me running a lot of deep routes [this year] and yards were hard to come by. I barely ran intermediate routes; it felt like they were purposely trying to disrupt my draft stock."

** Which is why I don't like Bowe and a few other WR's that have played or do play in the NFL.
