Sounds good.

4. Ricky Stanzi worked as the number two quarterback with Brady Quinn as the third QB, for the day at least. Stanzi responded with a big day, throwing several nice passes in the 7-on-7 drill and then finishing a two-minute drill with a touchdown pass to Jamar Newsome. Quinn threw a long touchdown pass to rookie Brandon Kinnie in the 7-on-7 drill but ended his two-minute drill by throwing an interception to Jalil Brown.

Ricky Stanzi had a big day in practice Tuesday as he attempted to narrow the gap with Brady Quinn in their battle to be the top reserve behind starting quarterback Matt Cassel.

Quinn and Stanzi have been alternating in practice as the No. 2 quarterback. Stanzi took his turn Tuesday, throwing several nice passes in a seven-on-seven drill. He later finished a full-squad two-minute drill with a touchdown pass to Jamar Newsome.

“It’s good to get out there and go through that situation,” Stanzi said. “It’s an important one. You can talk about it a lot, but it’s nice to actually go out there and (play) it out. You see some different situations come up and different plays that can be called and you can learn a lot from putting it on tape.”

Quinn, meanwhile, threw a long touchdown pass to rookie Brandon Kinnie in the 7-on-7 drill but ended his turn at the two-minute drill by throwing an interception to Jalil Brown.

Coach Romeo Crennel last week indicated Stanzi lagged behind Quinn.

Was it funny? I wasn't trying to be funny. Neither Stanzi or Quinn may be good enough to start it would just be nice to see Pioli stand by what he said about "competition at QB."

No doubt! How can you call it a QB competition... which we were all told was going to happen... if Stanzi or Quinn doesn't get any reps with the #1's.

I'm waiting for local media to ask Pioli this very question.

So is this just part of the chiefs media machine? Giving fans Stanzi-hope so they buy into the Chiefs this season?

I was mad last year when no one but Orton got any reps with the #1s in the Broncos' TC. At least they had the excuse of a strike-shortened preseason.

Cassel always sucks at the beginning of the year.

Three years in a row he's done nothing but suck in the first two games of the year.

This year we have to play the Atlanta Falcons, then we have to go to Buffalo, which is never easy.

It's gonna be ugly. We're probably gonna start 2-4 at best.

So, we must now hope Stanzi wins backup and then Cassel gets hurt.

Because the competition is for the #2 spot. Pioli didn't specificaly mention that, and no one thought to ask.

You know what you get when you ASS-U-ME...:banghead:

No, according to reports Cassel is always awesome in camp, OTA's etc. Then the games start and THAT'S when he sucks.

I think Pioli signed Quinn to a 1 year contract so Quinn could help his 2 QBs (Cassel and Stanzi) transition from the Haley (McDaniels) offense to the Daboll offense. Pioli wouldn't look like much of a genious if Quinn beats out his QBs. After 1 season, there's not much need for help with the transition to a new scheme so a 1 year deal makes sense.

So when Pioli promised more QB competition this year, he meant to have Cassel and Quinn battle for the #2 spot eventually. What a treat to watch the mastermind at work!!!
