Yeah, I was thinking the same thing with Montana. I'd go swing some bales, just for old times sake. On a side note, I have never had beer taste better than it did, after a day of slinging bales.

Extra cash? Mo will allow you to work for him just because it's an honor!!! If anyone should be paying I would think you would have to pay him for the priveledge. :p

I'd be there if I wasn't 700 miles away. That was my summer job for 10 years when I was growing up. It's just now getting to be fun after 25 years of not doing it. (I do a few hundred for myself now but it goes in a regular hay barn, not a loft.)

Same here, every summer. Unless we were overseas it was an annual 3-4 weeks back on the farm. My sons did the same for a couple years. Hot, nasty work at its best.

As kids we did make tunnels and hidden rooms inside the stacks, even got elaborate with plywood and 2x4s.

Turning chicken shit, into chicken dinner.

What you need to do Mo, is figure out a way to market this as a "Farm Getaway / Bed and Breakfast." Charge the slickers several hundred bucks for the "farm experience" for the weekend. Make them do your chores, feed them, collect the money and boot them out at the end of the weekend.

I'm telling you, you could trun this into a major win.

You cooking, or buying the beer, for this hay party?

Chiefaholic

Not bad... I assume you had an elevator for the loft? My hay hauling days are behind me other than helping my uncle once a year with his. I used to haul all day and half the night. Then get up the next day to start all over again. Now, I haul a couple days for my uncle and feel it for a couple weeks.

You're still in time for the Saturday gig. And Springfield can't be more than half an hour from the bum-fuck-south part of KC you live in.

MoHB lives in KC now - northland. But my day is booked. I haven't thrown no hay since I was a much younger man. Might be fun with only a couple hundred bales to do. I wouldn't want to do it all day long though. I don't really have fond memories of all the bales I threw long ago. That's serious work.

The time between now and my bale bucking days is measured in decades.

The first time I uncovered a snake I made an Olympic qualifying high jump.
