Jeremy Guthrie actually had some positive and engaging tweets. Wouldn't ever see Sanchez say those things...just that his recent misfortune was "unlucky". Think Guthrie is ready for a new start

So I was really bored this morning and wandered over to the burlington royals website...

Starling is currently 5th in the Appalachian league in OPS and 4th in OBP. Another Royal - Fred Ford - is 4th in the league in OPS. They've also got quite a few dominant pitchers down there. It will be interesting to see what develops out of there.

Yawn. They are retooling his swing. He can come up at 26 years of age as far as I care. We've only got him for six years either way.

Side note:

As bleak as the Royals' pitching outlook is, the Twins is much worse.

Their rotation is garbage this year and Liriano is certainly gone.

They really only have one good pitching prospect within a few years of the major league (Kyle Gibson) and he's coming back from TJ surgery, still. And his upside is fairly limited (4 starter with 3 upside. A little toned-down version of Odo).

And then there's ... nothing.

Oh, I'm still firmly in that camp. THe Royals would need to win the lotto with a few things (returns from injury, sudden jumps forward in development) to have a better pitching situation without acquiring two starters before next year.

I was just shocked at how bleak the Twins' outlook was when I looked at it.

Not trying to be negative but we traded pos #1 for pos #2. Guthrie is no better than Sanchez, he just cares more. I'll gladly be wrong and eat my words. We got rid of Sanchez to help the team as much as picking up a guy to take his place. Both will be out of the league next year.

Sanchez found a home in KC you're right. I doubt he makes it past Colorado. Guthrie started with KC and left and sucked in Denver giving up homers that would be out in any park. Both guys are worthless. Again I'll be glad to be wrong about Guthrie. I'd still start him over Sanchise any day. Colorado is truly stupid.

This is a pretty stupid post.

Even for you, man.

Ok.. so our guys just can't hit home runs. Time to bring guys in who can hit the home run.... not 11 singles in a game type of Hosmer guys, but guys who mash the ball.

5 innings, 5 ERs, and 3 BBs.

Plus we're paying an extra million. Savvy, Dayton, savvy. Who could have guessed that this guy was trash, too?

But I wonder whom we could have brought up to fill a 4-5 inning void without paying more money? Who, who, who?

Just a stupid move the minute it was made. If we weren't paying more money, fine, but we are.

When was the last time when a Royals line up had 5 legitimate HR hitting threats?

(Gordon, Butler, Moustakas, Hosmer, Perez)

Saying they don't want to hit homeruns was pretty stupid.

As long as Seitzer is fired before he destroys Myers and Cain.

Seitzer's approach is sound: up the middle/opposite field.

He has little to nothing to do with any of the struggles this year. So what does? A terrible fucking pitching staff. This weakness creates a pendulum effect that causes hitters to press, overextend themselves, and creates slumps.

Fix the pitching and watch a lot of the offensive problems correct themselves.

No, he doesn't. His approach, which is well documented, is hard up the middle/opposite field.

This isn't exactly innovative; it's an approach advocated by most major college programs that I know of. Simply sound fundamental baseball.

Now, you get an enormous motherfucker like Dunn? Yeah, his approach should be load the fuck up. We don't have Dunn, though.

They certainly are pressing... but they are being taught by Seitzer that hitting home runs by pulling the ball is a terrible thing and that everything must be up the middle or to the opposite field, which is taking away A LOT of the power some of these guys have. We know the pitching is terrible, the hitting is just as bad.

Seitzer is teaching them to hit at the major league level with the middle/away approach because that is how you hit like 98% of major league pitches. After a while, once they have mastered that approach, they can start to recognize pull pitches. Right now, over half the lineup is still learning to hit in the majors.

That's not at all what he's teaching.

HRs are almost always an accident. If your approach is up the middle, it allows you to stay back and to trust your hands with a pitch on the inner half. Result? HRs.

Moose? Butler? I don't think either of these players has had a problem turning on pitches this year. We've even seen this from Cain in an extremely small sample size.

Not worried about Gordon, since he's had a very successful year to date. Hosmer has been a complete fucking mess, but I believe that's more mental (think '07 Gordon arrogance/stubbornness) than anything.

If managers are the least important coaches in professional sports, hitting and pitching coaches are even less important. But not in KC, where they are repeatedly (and unnecessarily) scapegoated.

This is not about winning. This is about making money. As long as the Royals make money, Glass wins. He literally could give a shit whether we win or not. Kansas City has put up with this for more than 20 years. There's a whole generation of Royals fans that don't realize how bad this team really is. They've been awful for 20 full years. They don't know any better. And since they don't know any better, they accept it. So, since the fans don't demand a winner, the Glass family can pocket the profit that should be going towards buying better players. This is just business, don't take it personally. That's what David Glass would tell you off the record.

And I know it is going to be same shit, different year.

But, we've got some nice, young decent COGs. That's what I'm excited about.

Now..about this pitching rotation.

I agree, we do have some nice parts. I actually bought into "Our Time" though this year. Now I'm just an idiot again. It gets old.

Trust me.

You're not the only one.

Live and learn.

Gotta temper our expectations next year.

Ned overview:

"Their pitcher was really good today."
"It's hot, we're not."
"We need to, like, you know.....win or something."
"Maybe we'll be better on the road."

They were 3-8 on their last roadie.
3-7 on this homestand.
See a pattern???

This is not about winning. This is about making money. As long as the Royals make money, Glass wins. He literally could give a shit whether we win or not. Kansas City has put up with this for more than 20 years. There's a whole generation of Royals fans that don't realize how bad this team really is. They've been awful for 20 full years. They don't know any better. And since they don't know any better, they accept it. So, since the fans don't demand a winner, the Glass family can pocket the profit that should be going towards buying better players. This is just business, don't take it personally. That's what David Glass would tell you off the record.

I'd like to argue with this, but I cannot.

Royals fans just need to stop going, period. But no we are all stupid and still go to clown days at the K.

KC deserves so much better. Highlight of the year is watching a stupid yankee get shutout in HR derby

Omaha is awesome though!

Fox Sports re-plays Royals games. Wonder why they do that? Who'd want to watch that POS again???

I need to cheer up, KCPT is showing "Diary of Anne Frank." That should be good for a few belly laughs this afternoon....

I take it personally. This is my favorite team. If I owned this team this would hurt so bad I'd do anything to make the playoffs this year. I don't own it though and I'm so sick it even I'm about ready to call it quits. I've never been so disenfranchised in my life.

Although I get riled up from time to time for the most part as a fan of both I've just settled into a do unto others approach. The owners don't show me they care about winning,so I show them no money(unless they get a directv cut)No games,no new gear, nadda.

IMO, this Manager, Ned Yost is the worst one they have had to date.

He has cost the team several wins, in the few games that were televised up here, so there must be a lot more.

I hate it that this young crew is getting used to losing.

That's funny because Kevin Kietzman has said just the opposite. On several occasions, he's said the Royals would have many more losses without Ned's steady hand on the tiller.

Take that for what it's worth.
