View Full Version : Fantasy Football Where to hold a Fantasy Draft in KC?

I'm part of a league that is going to draft live in KC this year for most of the owners, while still using the internet for a couple that live too far away to make the trip.

We're trying to come up with ideas - where to hold the draft.

Figured this place would be a good resource for ideas.

Anyone here have any experience with drafting at a KC sports bar, casino, etc?

Would prefer a private/semi-private room and WiFi is a must.

Any suggestions?

in all seriousness though, I've seen a lot of drafts taking place at Bufflao Wild Wings around town in the past.

I would imagine a lot of less than high-end sports bars, would accomodate as well.

Do it in Arrowhead. I'm sure Clark won't mind. He'd just be happy to have fans in there.

Yeah, that's the kind of thing we're looking for. Someone told me that they had their draft at Arrowhead last year, but I can't find anything on the website.

Supposedly, only if you have 10 or more people.

We'll only have 8. The other 4 live too far away or can't make the trip.

The best bet would be to call the casinos if you haven't already.

I would assume that would let you as long as you guys ordered drinks and maybe food.

we had a draft one year; lower end bar; didn't serve food etc. I called them the day of the draft (I think a Wednesday), and asked about it. he said if we got there and it wasn't busy he didn't care.

I think we got there at like 5 etc; no issues.

I guess it just depends on the establishment.

To me: having drafts at BWW and Hooters are kind of bleh. I've had some at both. I like the atmosphere at a Casino better.

Ultimately, you could have a draft at Lord's Diner and it'd still be a blast with the right company.

I recommend http://www.facebook.com/nextdoorpizza - they have a long table behind the bar at which I've seen lots of guys do their fantasy drafts. It's only secluded by half-walls but it's still private enough that it will work. Plus their wings are amazing, pizza is first rate, and they have plenty of delicious craft brews on draft.

I would throw out the idea of PM'ing Bob Dole to use his arcade room, but judging on your post count…..I'm sure you know the drill.

At the airport (then you promptly board a plane and go to Las Vegas)
Enough festivities for a three day draft and everyone is happy (except maybe a couple of the wives).

OK, probably not for everyone, but I'm flying out there for my draft this weekend.

And trust me, I'd be all over coming to your place, but the 5 guys that live in Olathe, Leawood, OP, etc wouldn't.

Yep. I was waiting on confirmation before I called you.

The date has been tentatively set for Saturday, 8/25 at 7:00. Try to clear your schedule.

Me and CrazyCoffey are the only two CP'ers in the league. Not sure if CC is making the trip.

I'll give them a call tomorrow.

I checked their website, and they say you need a group of at least 10. I'll see if they'll cut us a break there.

I responded to the league email that I'm off that weekend but really I'm off the weekend prior and the weekend after I have army drill. If it gets moved to the 18th I could make the trip for sure.

I'm confused. Are you available on the 25th, or not?

And making the trip isn't a deal-breaker. I'm not even sure that I'm going.

Oh, I will make myself available. I just miscounted my weekends at first.
