I got an email saying my tickets were shipped. Apparently they are being shipped from Calgary via FedEx, and apparently there IS A PROBLEM:

Improper or missing international paperwork, contact Customer Service.

:doh!:

Did any other STH's receive this email?

My problem is that we no longer get hard tickets. All tickets are loaded on to a card and we swipe that card. It is like being on welfare. I really will miss having the hard ticket.

I've gotten that error before with FedEx when a package was being shipped internationally. I don't know why. But the tracking's usually normal by the end of the day.

Um, what now? First I heard of that. How would you give/sell someone your ticket? Have to print off an e-ticket?

Why the hell would Chiefs season tickets ship from Canada? :spock:

That's my understanding.

No wonder they dropped the fee for printing off/forwarding tickets. That's fine if friends or family are using the tickets, but if someone wanted to sell a pair on Craigslist or ebay, buyers don't like getting e-tickets. I wouldn't trust a stranger giving me an e-ticket.

Cheaper. I'm surprised they aren't shipped from Indonesia.

Cheaper to ship a few sheets of paper via FedEx International? I'd sure like to see the numbers on that.

Reminds me of that whole tainted pet food fiasco, where they imported wheat from China into Kansas.

You'd be surprised at the money savings even for things that are inexpensive. If I read correctly, these are like credit cards and not hard tickets. There's probably some company in Canada that can produce them cheaper there than can be done here. Actually, it might be an NFL-wide contract with the vendor.

My company sources things from all over the world that can't be produced locally at a competitive rate. We have a company in Taiwan that builds little circuit boards for us far cheaper than the company down the road that does the same thing. I don't like it, but it is what it is. The same can be said for importing wheat from China. It was probably low grade, cheap wheat that only had a use as a dog food filler. Shipping is VERY cheap in the overall scheme of things.

How do you sell tickets to a game if they are stored on a card?

I like the new card system as a ticket holder. Now the secondary market is going to be fucked.

Outsourcing, printing is cheaper up there and they have less defects with better mileage.

Lose the card and you download an e-ticket from the Chiefs and print a new ticket.

If you lose your card it will be pretty easy to get to the person that took it. heh

If you lose the card I'm sure they'd either print you a new card, or in the very least disable that card so you can print off the remainder of the games and use those printed tickets.

When you send somebody a ticket from the card the whole thing happens through the ticketmaster system. Buyers of tickets through that system would be printing the ticket themselves, from their own account on Ticketmaster, and could rest assured those tickets were good.

If they buy a piece of paper off some guy on the road that's their problem, and that's really all the physical tickets are anyway. People can reproduce those a hell of a lot easier than this.

It was definitely more exciting to receive physical tickets in the mail at the beginning of the year, but they sort of killed that already when they went to the little booklets instead of the uncut sheets. I'm slightly annoyed I won't have individual tickets to keep in my "ticket memory box" but I can throw the card in there and know I attended that entire season, or print off a physical ticket for an individual game if I want to. I think the advantages outweigh the disadvantages.

You can print the tickets off but your card will be disabled for that game after you print them off. You can also use your card for discounts in Arrowhead.
