The NFL Players' Association agreed to pair of rule changes Thursday that go into effect this season. The league's trade deadline will be pushed from after the Tuesday after Week 6 to Week 8, and teams can place a player on injured reserve with a "major" injury and activate him later in the year.

Any football-related injury that takes at least six weeks to recover from qualifies as major under the new rule,
