So Pioli trades down, picking up an extra 3rd rounder, and drafts a DE or LT depending on which player walks.

And with that extra 3rd round pick he trades for...Ryan Mallet.

Well... Not that I'd like the move. But in their defense, let's not act like these are two guys who are busts. Kolb is doing pretty well right now and Flynn is an unknown.

But yes, I'd rather draft a QB.

If we draft a QB, lots of terrific QBs available. Not a big fan of Landry Jones or Barkley, but they're better options than what we have. Love Geno Smith and Tyler Wilson. If we're lucky, either (or both) Bray and Murray have great enough seasons that they declare. I wouldn't be surprised in the least if either of them did, as I think they could pass Barkley on the draft board.

It's a valid stat because unless he was playing a conference opponent he was playing cupcakes. Ergo when playing real competition, he blows. It's also a large sample size. It's just one stat among many. Other than having no look of having "it" it's not like he has led any kind of good offenses. All you have to do is watch him to know he won't be a successful starter at the next level. If we want a guy that puts up numbers against lousy teams we would just take the Houston or Hawaii QB every three years.
