Besides the final score, that is:

Drew Brees completions in fourth quarter and overtime: 0.
Yards gained by New Orleans in fourth quarter and OT: -16

Well done, defense...

Yep, I guess they finally got tired of playing like a bunch of gutless pussies.

I don't know where this defense was in the first two games. They played very well last year, and got Berry back this year, so this is more like what I expected all along. Hopefully they've figured it out and the defense we saw in the second half will be the norm from now on.

The Saints do suck ass. They don't have a coach.

Still a good performance though.

Actually, there are others too -- Houston with 3 sacks and a safety (AFC Defensive Player of the Week), Charles with almost 300 yards total offense (AFC Offensive Player of the Week), Succop with 6 FGs including the kick to tie and the kick to win (AFC Special Teams Player of the Week).

When was the last time one team had players win all three awards in the same week?

Such a dominant effort by the D to keep New Orleans under 30 today.

Scott Pioli nominated Cassel for all 3 in every game in 2010, but he was shut down by the front office.

To me, that was a very very sloppy game played by both teams

All you need is a franchise QB

Defense held the Saints offense under 300yds for the day.

Didn't always look nice, but they got it done today...

It was the first time the Saints had been held under 300 yards at home since the NFC championship game a couple years ago against the Vikings.

What's really amazing is the Saints had half their yards in the first two drives. They only had 55 yards in the 2nd half/OT.

Nice. I'd argue that some of the Saints big plays on scoring drives were b/c of a breakdown of defensive responsibilities just like the first two weeks. Looks like they realized Romeo was right and if they just do the job asked of them on any particular play, the plays will come to them and the defense will be fine.

I knew the D would 'play up to' this week, very typical of this team.

Different reasons for different coaches, but still par... until the QB is changed, i'm going to say flash in the pan, not 'harbinger of the great turnaround'... but it still feels good, the D isnt dead yet.

Chiefs look to have the number one offense in the NFL.

I wish that meant something...

The saints are terrible and the lack of effort from their players was apparent.

This is 2011 part deux. We get blown out in weeks 1-2 and come back with a strong defensive game in week three. The homers are blinded and excited about the win and dream of playoffs even though this team if it were to squeak into the playoffs will get abused again. I am proud of our defense though.

It will be interesting to see how they play against the Bolts next week...they're giving up something like 45 yards a game on the ground...

I have no illusions that if we somehow squeak into the playoffs this year we will get abused. I also have no illusions that if we completely tank this year - we will draft an early first-round quarterback, fire Pioli or Crennel or do anything different than we would otherwise.

That's literally going to take multi years of suck. And I just can't bring myself to root for multi years of suck. So what the hell might as well root for a fun regular season.
