View Full Version : Chiefs Pioli needs to man up with Cassel, the team and the fans.

Think about it for a second. Cassel does not set the lineup. Cassel did not trade a #2 pick for Cassel. Cassel did not offer Cassel $63 mil. Cassel knows Cassel sucks as a QB. I feel a touch sorry for Cassel simply because a lot of the crap he is taking sits on the shoulders of Pioli, only Pioli is not on the field. Pioli doesn't speak after the game to the press. Pioli hides in his plush office, monitoring security cameras and phone taps for signs of subversion.

Cassel is a terrible QB and he knows that. It goes with the territory of being a QB but a lot of the crap he is taking is directed at the higher-ups.

It speaks to what a little man Pioli really is when he continuously runs Cassel out on the field to be subjected to all the boos and cursing. Granted Cassel is getting paid very well to carry that burden but still. The man (Pioli) as of yet has not even come out and addressed the media at all, as far as I know.

Cassel stinks as a QB but all the piling on is really the fans\media screaming at RAC, Pioli and Hunt.

Maybe it's just me but I could not continue to throw someone to the wolves knowing they are going to take a ton of crap that is really directed towards me. I think there is a time you have to man up and quit subjecting the guy to a no-win situation. It's not fair to the fans, the rest of the team or to Cassel for that matter.

Its almost like Cassel is the QB because his old man runs the team.

It is! Seriously though, I start to feel sorry for the guy because he knows he isn't good and he knows who is making the decision to run him out there and take all the crap. I mean I'm sure Cassel wants to be a starting QB, what QB doesn't? But that's why players don't set the lineup.

He's collecting 63 million dollars. He cashes the checks, he's open to any criticism he's given.

I pointed that out but it's still a schmuck move by Pioli to do that to him. I mean what are you criticizing, really? That he sucks? Or that he is the starting QB? We all know he sucks and he knows it but the man upstairs still keeps sending him out on the field to remind us of that fact, for some reason.

Let's get honest here. Cassel is a big boy that is paid a lot to do a job. He's not going to war here.

Don't feel sorry for this turd. That 63 mil will ease his pain just fine.

I'm not sure Cassel really thinks he's terrible. I'm sure he knows he needs to be better but likely believes he can get better with more practice and time playing and some things coming together. I seriously doubt he thinks he sucks as a QB.

It's kind of like how you suck as an internet user but you don't realize that you do so you just keep trying, but still every thread is a wobbly pass into the defenders shin... but you still don't get why people boo you. See?

You're the Matt Cassel of posters. Probably a good guy but you just don't get the job done.

I'm pretty sure he knows but it's not like he's going to fire himself...

Well, I suppose if Matt The Hoople grew sufficiently tired of the criticism, he could simply retire or fake an injury or think real hard about algebra until he spontaneously combusts. Any of those things would work for me.

Besides, I'm sure that Cassel is familiar with the immortal Rudyard Kipling who wrote, "When all about you are losing their heads and blaming it on you, it's usually your fault and you should quit right away."

That blind stare into space look of hopelessness he had on his face during the bills game (iirc) makes it seem like he was realizing that he really does suck.

He's a multi-millionaire.

He has the opportunity to play a game he loves.

I don't feel sorry for him for one fucking second.

I used to feel it wasn't on him, but a lot of good points have been made recently about Cassel's lack of taking blame like most QB's do.
