View Full Version : Chiefs Is this the worst team in NFL History?

I really think it is. At least the Detroit Lions and Tampa Bay Bucs were competetive in a handful of games.

This is just fucking sad.

Wrong. Even if you really mean the 2008 team like i think you do, this team is so much worse than that team it's not even remotely close. That 08 team lost 7 games by 7 points or fewer, and 4 games by less than 4 points. This team is getting boat raced every single week. They've only kept it within a touchdown once. Hell, they've only kept it within single digits once.

They continue this path, they'll be considered the worst NFL team of all time.

I fucking hate Scott Pioli. I've never hated a Chiefs player/coach/employee more than him. Just listening to him talk pisses me off. Dayton Moore, even if you want to argue that he hasn't done too much, he at least is candid and appears humble. Pioli is a fucking douche who thinks he's smarter than anyone else. I'd bet me and my buddies could coordinate this team to better performances by calling plays from Madden 97.

Fuck this team.

The team this year turns the ball over a lot. The 08' team was horrific at every position. Record setting sack total, horrific offense, etc.

also been blown out 5 of the 7 losses. When your a fan and you expect your team to get blown out, its bad. I dont think any fan even thinks the games will be competitive 5 min before the start of a game.

That's an incredible stat, right there.

As for Mitch, I agree. Something snapped in his frontal lobes tonight. He could simply find nothing to praise ... and not just so far as this game was concerned. He couldn't think of a single positive thing to say about the entire season. He's never been so forthright about the team's problems.

I found it interesting that he mentioned Clark in the context that Clark is highly competitive and doesn't like losing. However, he never uttered Pioli's name. If there's one thing Mitch knows, it's the butter side of the slice ... and his comments regarding Clark were, in my view, telling.

Tyler Thygpin was also at least fun to watch. We didn't have expectations for him to be all world QBing. He was just fun to watch and was a guy we could root for.

I blame Larry Johnson and Carl Peterson for that seasons failures. Larry was a punk ass bitch that underminded the coach and teams efforts. The o-line was never addressed by Carl Peterson upon the retirement of Will & big ol Willie. Carl Peterson had plenty of time to prepare for those guys to retire. So I think Herm was dealt a bad hand at the start of the 2008 season and his QB Brodie Croyle was broken in half that game against the Titans they came after him like sharks in a feeding frenzy I remember that.

Well, normally he's constantly making excuses or finding some incidental factoid or two upon which he can base some homerism. Last night was highly unusual. I've never heard him devoid of hope. He sounded completely disgusted and in the wrap-up, he struggled for words.

I do hope the blackout deal goes well and that things change for you guys - I've always said they're you're a great fanbase and you certainly deserve better. Football watching sucks a great deal when our division sucks, so I truly and honestly do hope that things improve.

In the past several seasons, it looks like there's always a team or two that ends up with a -200 point differential. Clearly the worst teams from that group...

2009 Rams: 1-15, -261
2009 Lions: 2-14, -232
2008 Rams: 2-14, -233
2008 Lions: 0-16, -249

The Chiefs are at -107 halfway through the season, so they have some work to do in that regard, and their opponent win % is probably pretty mediocre at this point.

The 2009 Rams got shutout twice, didn't score a touchdown in 3 other games, and only scored one touchdown in 6 other games.... 11 games with less than 2 touchdowns scored. The Chiefs are at 4, but it's their last 4 in a row. The Rams were last in points for (175) and 2nd to last in points against (436). The Chiefs "only" have 42 points to go to hit 175, but they could go well over the points against (240 through 8 games).

So, it's closer than some might think, and being able to be so inept two seasons in a row is a meaningfully terrible accomplishment as well.

This is supposed to be a professional organization. I don't see anything professional about this organization at all. There is no motivation, no dedication and no sence of urgency. Romeo has lost the team and there is no way it can be fixed with the current structure of the team. Wholesale changes must be made, it is just a matter of when.

Denver Post's worst team ever rankings....

1. 1976 Tampa Bay Buccaneers, 0-14
The QB of the expansion team that was outscored by an average score of 29-9? Steve Spurrier. Bucs started 0-12 in 1977.

2. 1942 Detroit Lions, 0-11
Averaged 3.5 points per game. QBs Harry Hopp, Chet Wetterlund and Tom Colella combined for zero touchdown passes and 27 interceptions. You can look it up. ROFL ROFL ROFL

3. 1943 Chicago Cardinals, 0-10
Loss of players to World War II brought a merger with Pittsburgh Steelers in 1944, when Card-Pitt again went 0-10.

4. 2008 Detroit Lions, 0-16
Remember, this was the decade of parity. How does a team with Calvin Johnson, who had 78 catches for 1,331 yards, go winless?

5. 1980 New Orleans Saints, 1-15
This was the year Saints fans went with the Unknown Comic look. Archie Manning's team started 0-14, then beat the Jets 21-20.

6. 2000 San Diego Chargers, 1-15
Ryan Leaf! Three years after he was the No. 2 pick in the draft, behind Peyton Manning, Leaf was benched for 37-year-old Jim Harbaugh.

7. 1971 Buffalo Bills, 1-13
They were shut out four times. Dennis Shaw threw 11 TD passes and 26 interceptions. O.J. rushed for only 742 yards. Team was last in total defense and last in total offense.

8. 2007 Miami Dolphins, 1-15
Started 0-13, then beat Baltimore in overtime.

Shhhhhh.....The powers that BE have not figured that out yet. ... and if my mom had a penis, she would be my dad. This team will continue to turn it over and will continue to find ways to lose because they are no-talent ass clowns.

That is correct my friend... I actually saw long , clock chewing drives by the Chiefs... That's a recipe for wins right now but everytime yall got it going, you shot yourself in the foot.. Can't blame Matt for that strip sack

I've heard that Aaron Rodgers is the most sacked QB so far this year. Well he is not turning the ball over and they are a winning football team. Those long clock chewing drives mean shit if you can't produce points from them.

An elite QB masks alot of things. Today's NFL is full of flawed teams, so yeah in comparsion this team does have alot of talent.

Not when you turn the ball over at the end

Who fumbles the ball at the one yard line?

Aaron Rodgers gets sacked more than anybody. They don't make up excuses he still throws for 6 TDs any given sunday. Guarandamntee if we had an Aaron Rodgers we would be a scoring machine.

Matt is not Aaron Rodgers and Geno is not either... Aaron is Elite and you can't compare the rest of the league to him right now.

Geno at least has a chance to grow into elite QB, can't tell me that he can't become one.

This team is no where near being the worse team of all time. We have Charles.

I don't know but I honestly think we could win 3 games and still be worse than the 0-16 lions team.

You can give him 10 seconds and he'll still find a way to shit his pants from phantom pressure

No, you can't blame Cassel for the pressure, but you can blame him for the sack and strip.

Ball security was terrible in that situation.

He had to get rid of that ball before the sack, or pull that ball in to protect against the strip.

Yall would have hated him if it were a sack for 2 or a TD for 6+1

QB has gotta have time, I feel sorry for Matt personally... I think he is trying his ass off but he is taking the heat for everything wrong here... Brady is not as good as Matt... I bet 100 bucks he would rather play on the road than at home, fans won't back him at all even when he plays good.

I blame Cassel for the things he deserves blame for.

Winston was like a swinging fucking door on that play, so Matt Cassel is in no way responsible for the pressure.

He did, however see the pressure and move, but he held the ball like a loose melon.

Once he saw the pressure and tried to move away from it, he should have continued to move and thrown the ball away to avoid the safety.

But he stopped, never raised the ball, and as already stated, held it like a loose melon.

Even if the sack was completely unavoidable, the strip was absolutely avoidable if he simply pulls the ball in.
