View Full Version : Life Have you ever shot somebody?

The thread from that Rain Man guy makes me curious.

In the movies, we see the bad guys shoot and shoot and hit nothing while the good guys hit their target every single time.

In real life, I know one guy who shot some dude in the foot while arguing over who ate the last bon bon. He said that it was really really easy to hit someone even when you don't mean to and he expressed skepticism about the movie people missing every shot. However, he wasn't in a fight for his life, so it's possible that his adrenaline wasn't running on overdrive.

So has anyone here shot someone? How did you feel in the first five minutes? First five hours? Next day? I recognize that the outcome may be different depending on who you shot, so please note who you shot if you have a story to tell. Include the caliber too, if known.

I made the poll multiple choice for those of you who have shot multiple people.

For the record, I shot a hobo with an arrow once, but it just grazed him. Other than a scrape, he had no problem and could have easily mounted a crazy hobo counterattack had he been concious.

R8ers, OctoberFart, and Over-Head, I'm looking your way...

I've shot a girl in the face with my load.

So that's what, like a bb gun?

one time i pulled a shotgun on a two dipshits that went in to a guys house, drug him out of bed and started wailing on him. just trying to keep the peace.

Yes, I shot my friend with a BB rifle when we were teens. He shot me first, though.

I knew that was coming and it still doesn't make any sense.

Many in Afghanistan. Felt nothing, no remorse, regret, or ambivalence. Like shooting rats. Now shooting someone here or in a non-cobat situation it would eat me up on the inside unless it was in the course of protecting myself or my family. Even then I would be haunted by it my entire life.

Meh. It gave him a great story to tell for years. He's dead now.

with bb guns dozens, but I did shoot the neighbor kid with a bow and target point. We convinced his Grandma that he did it on a fence.

We used to have BB guns when I was a kid. We'd just wear thick coats and not aim for heads. Don't even remember anybody getting hurt.

Of course, there was the time my uncle (the same one who got shot in the bar fight) got pissed at me when I was about 10 and chucked me in the dog house. I was mad as hell, grabbed the BB gun and started shooting him. And hitting him. Repeatedly. He finally used my grandma as a human shield, which I thought was a serious bitch move. :D

I once beat a kid with his own slingshot, he was still trying to laugh so I shot him in the ass with one of his own ball bearings. He was just laying there, very easy to hit.

I grazed a kid with a fat blunt tip put on one of those tent poles with the strings running through them. Apparently they weren't made to shoot out of one of those old blue fiberglass recurve bows because I was the good guy and only managed to graze the bad guy. I quickly learned the bad guy was much more accurate than I.

So way more people claim they've been shot than those that claim they've shot someone. Is 10% of the population doing 90% of the shooting or something?

I think that mathematically the shootees have to be equal to or greater than the shooters, assuming a representative sample.

My brother shot his ex wife (not ex at the time) in the ankle with a 243 when getting out of the truck to get the gate. Said it was the worst shot he ever made, I got the drift.

SHE GOT PAID!
