View Full Version : Chiefs Betting tomorrow's game

****DISCLAIMER - I AM NOT TRYING TO OFFEND ANYONE OR BE INSENSITIVE, I'M JUST CURIOUS BECAUSE THE SPORTSBOOKS HAVEN'T PULLED THIS GAME****

so I'm a gambling addict and I'd like to know what we think about tomorrow's game now...

Carolina is -4

do we have any shot now, are we even going to try?

Romeo just witnessed a friend/player commit suicide in front of him, there is no way they are practicing today or doing a walkthrough...that has to be a HUGE disadvantage, right?

or are we gonna have a "lets win one for Javon!" game tomorrow? Yeah he's a murderer and no one should feel sorry for him, but his teammates probably cared for him like a brother and might take this as a personal quest to win one in his honor.

or are they gonna just go through the motions and not give a shit since the NFL wouldn't postpone and lose by 50?

What does everyone think?

and I'm not trying to be offensive I was just surprised to see the sportsbooks haven't pulled this game for these reasons.

The Chiefs are either going to come out on fire or absolutely deflated.

Dave Lane

It could go either way the Chiefs could rally and win by 40, or lose by 100. Quite frankly I could care less about this aspect.

I have to laugh at this... LMAO ... Really?

what's the big deal?

One of the players on the team we cheer for murdered someone, and the NFL won't postpone the game...

so if they don't care, then as a person who is free to do what I wish, I'll bet it!

All or nothing game. Chiefs either rise up and show tremendous heart and blow Carolina out from the start, or the Chiefs will never be in the game.

Hootie
12-01-2012, 03:53 PM
I just...I just don't see it.

Crennel, for obvious reasons, can't give a "lets win one for Javon!" speech...

Hali is pissed they won't postpone the game...

I just think we are going to see a shellacking to remember...like 42-3...

I'm not very privy into when you do your pre-game walkthrough and what not...but isn't Saturday a BIG practice day?

NJChiefsFan
12-01-2012, 03:55 PM
I don't think it will be a nail-bitter. Which way, idk. I would lean towards losing. It being a murder makes it more depressing tomorrow than, well idk the word, a game of honoring him. Will be a day of contradicting emotion.

Hootie
12-01-2012, 04:05 PM
ok well

I'm sorry but I'll never bet a Chiefs blowout...have we watched this team before any of this this year?

Is this team even capable of scoring a touchdown offensively when it matters?

If a terrible murder in front of a head coach is what it takes for us to "blow someone out" then...

well I'll just stop right there

Pretty sure if Carolina owns us they won't be running up the score.

Personally I think we will play our hearts out. Probably be the most complete game this year.

In comparison to having either seen or heard their teammate taking his own life, probably pretty minimal in the list of things that could impact their performance tomorrow, imo.

My first thought was it could go either way, flat or inspired.

After thinking about it, I just think football is about focus.

I have a hard time even imagining how players or coaches can all at the same time be more focused now than before. I would imagine there would be more mental errors not having everyone's head in the game.

I was talking with someone about this with the Eagles, Colts, and Saints.

Having a negative real life situation has a big negative impact on the team as a whole.

Yep, there will be no gray area tomorrow, they will either destroy carolina or be destroyed.

Looking back at history tells me we just might win this... Buster Douglas shocked the world after losing mom, Favre killed it after losing dad, the ravens were on fire for Ed Reed when his brother died, i'm sure i'm missing many other similar cases.

Sometimes a situation like this can instill a numb, grim determination in people.

I think it is completly different and the team doesn't have anything to be inspired about. It is more that tragedy didn't just go to him, he went to tragedy.

Tough to play through something that gives you a "hundred yard stare". I don't see this being something that inspires us talent at QB either.

This is what I was saying earlier. There really isn't a central thing for them to rally around because the guy killed his wife. They will remember him as a friend but that is going to be sitting there as an issue too. They won't be able to honor him at the stadium or visually. I tend to think they are going to be flat.

As for the betting, if you are one who depends a little on betting, you should probably know by now that you bet on smart things, and let the risky go. While there is a decent chance you win this easily, I think it's wise you just stay away. There is a big unknown.

Tend to agree with this. Watched the Panthers on MNF and they looked a whole lot better than 2-9. They'll destroy this Chiefs squad. Never mind they lost a starter on defense.

I doubt it will make much of a difference to MOST of the players on the team except for the media distraction and "mood" around Arrowhead. The coaches on this team have all been doing this job for decades, so they won't be much different either. That said, there is one person I expect to have a poor day and that's DJ. He's been amazing all year, but it's gotta be VERY weird to have the guy you've been standing next to for four years suddenly gone. Gonna be hard for DJ to focus, which means... We will likely get exploited in the middle of the field (more than usual). The line on this game should be more like Panthers -8. Even then, I'd still take the Panthers.

mcan
12-02-2012, 12:40 AM
I hadn't heard about Tamba being upset that the game was going to be played, but again, not very surprised. He's also stood right next to Belcher for four years on nearly every snap of the ball. That said, Tamba's position doesn't require as much focus as it does physical tools and motor. When a middle linebacker can't focus, the whole defense breaks. When a outside linebacker can't focus, he can sometimes rely on adrenaline to compensate.

Was a good idea and listening to me about gambling is probably an awful idea as well.

The few games I've bet this year in the NFL I've been horrendous.

Today's Bears collapse, and the Patriots sitting on the ball on their last drive are the reason I'm pretty much done betting the NFL.

I will end up losing $100 today...just a hobby. I've done really well this year with money line parlays. Picking NE and DEN every week with the money line and supplementing them with one pick usually pays 3:1 - 5:1 and I've hit on several. I don't usually mess with lines, I hate playing with spreads.

Yeah, it's just a hobby for me too, but one I'm completely awful at.

I'm a sucker for overs. I can't bring myself to bet unders. That cost me the times I did bet this year.

That Patriots and Bears swing was the difference of about 250 for me.

And now for my next trick, watch me pull a rabbit out of my hat.

I swear, you should always bet on the team that has a major disruption. Teams always win their first game with a new head coach midseason. They always win when the star's mother died the night before the game. And apparently they always win when their linebacker participates in a murder-suicide.
