Honestly I think he's been extended when the original report came out, and then it was damage control.

I'm very confident that he's fired. Very confident. I just don't see how he can be retained.

But mostly because I don't want to think about the reality of me being done with the NFL, which will happen (until Clark is no longer owner) if Pioli is retained.

I'm pretty confident he will be gone, the reason I say that is the main media guys that would break this haven't said jack shit about it. The New England hand job givers in the media would have been all over this if he was staying IMO.

That doesn't jive with Glazers report that Pioli and Hunt are meeting on Monday. Glazer is pretty solid with his info. Why are Pioli and Hunt meeting if its a done deal?

My confidence is moderate.

I feel confident that he will be fired because a creditable source in Schefter is reporting that as a possibility.

On the other hand, I'm not exactly confident because I'm thinking that the Chiefs are really thinking about whether or not they should fire him.
The title of Schefter's article, "chiefs leaning towards firing Pioli" gives me that impression.

*Firing him should be a no brainer. The guy has been here 4 years and the team has gotten worse. And not not only that, they are setting some of the worst historical franchise records under his reign.

The fact that ownership has to ponder about a decision after those two facts has left me astounded as a fan.

FAX
12-30-2012, 05:15 PM
Astounded is a darn good term, Mr. bricks.

Based solely on performance, Pioli shouldn't just be fired, he should be fried. He's Ol' Sparky material. The fact that it's even a question is mind-numbing. If he's retained, it tells you everything you need to know about this franchise's priorities and makes those "thick or thin" fans look like fools.

I was 99% sure he was done for before today. Now I'm 40% in my gut. Good things don't happen to my favorite teams. Pioli has hunt in the palm oh his hand and I fear that he's going to be here for a very long time.

If he does remain then the two worst owners in their respective sports own teams across from each other. How depressing for KC.

He has to get fired. Regardless of how good our players looked on paper both before this season began and to the Pro Bowl selectors, the coaching staff is not up to snuff and Pioli has to bear some responsibility for that. Being a long-suffering Kansas City sports fan, my initial gut feeling was that Pioli would avoid the ax, but the more I think about it, the more I think that he'll get fired on the grounds that the coaches suck so badly that there's no way that you could give the man who hired these coaches yet another shot.
