Here we are, at a crossroads that we haven't seen since the Nfl merger. The Chiefs have the first pick in the draft, and a chance make sweeping organizational changes. Lust look at the thread titles around here and you can see that the fan and sportswriters opinions are like assholes, everyone has one. But step back a minute. What's the one consistency in winners over the last thirty years in the NFL? It's a high level of QB play. Let's look at a couple of head coaches and GMs as case studies.
Mike Shannahan. With the Raiders he was a bust with no QB. Without Elway, he's been a bust until he got RG3.
Sean Payton. He was OK prior to Breeze with OK QBs.
Marvin Lewis. Sucked ass till he got a QB.
Bill Bellichick. Nuff said.

Same goes for GMs ( see Scott Pioli).

Point is, it is very evident that if you have a solid QB, you will succeed, and if you don't, you won't. I hope Chunt fires Pioli and Crennel like everyone else, but whoever ends up making the chiefs pick in the first round come April, will either be making some head coach and himself a genius or making them both goats.

Sooooooo, basically, it comes down to talent evaluation and luck. If the guy we pick is good, the coach will be seen as a good hire because we will win. Look at John Fix for Pete's Sake. The guy was run out of Carolina and now he's up for coach of the year. What a joke.

Anyhow, here's to hopin the chiefs get a stroke of luck and pick whoever it is in this QB class that ends up being a winner.
