With Romeo Crennel out in Kansas City, Clark Hunt is on the hunt for the new head coach of the Chiefs who will likely determine the fate of general manager Scott Pioli. Among the possible coaching candidates for the Chiefs is Jaguars defensive coordinator/assistant head coach Mel Tucker, according to a report from Warpaint Illustrated.

Tucker, 40, is also a possible candidate in the impending staff search that a new Chiefs head coach would make to presumably fill the same position that he currently owns with the Jaguars. Tucker was a candidate for the Wisconsin Badgers head coaching vacancy and interviewed for the job in December.

After one season as defensive coordinator of the Cleveland Browns, Tucker made a lateral move to join the Jaguars. While the team struggled defensively in the first two seasons of his tenure, the Jaguars defense rose to top 10 in the league in 2011 and he served as the team's interim head coach following the firing of Jack Del Rio.

In 2012, the Jaguars defense finished as the No. 29 team in points allowed and No. 30 in yardage allowed. The Chiefs finished No. 25 in points allowed and No. 20 in yardage allowed.

Im on record that I don't believe Clark can land any of the big 4(Kelly,Gruden,Reid,cowher). So lets look at what is available in the 2nd teir guys. The best of the best IMO are Ariens and Jay Gruden. Ariens(again however the hell you spell his name) did a great job and proved, at least to me, he is capable of being a head coach. Jay Gruden is the guy I really like. He has a great offensive mind has at least some head coaching experience and a lot of QBing in his back ground. I think he could groom a QB better then any of the other coaches besides Reid.
