I would absolutely give up a 3rd rounder for this guy. He is the impact 3-4 DE that we have been missing and he would come very cheap financially to replace Jackson and Dorsey.

If you have to trade good, young players because of your scheme you shouldn't be a coach in the NFL.

Why?

He is a good player.

Why?

He is a good player.

Because they've lost all leverage. Plus, who gives up a third for a 5 tech?

Maybe they'll just cut him.

I guess I'd rather give up a 4th, but I wouldn't be too mad if they decided to give up a 3rd for a good, 25 year old defensive linemen that would be a good fit for us.

Better than rolling the dice on a draft pick, JMO.

The Packers have a couple DL they might jettison, too.

Personally, with the lack of depth and need for starters at QB, CB, Safety and ILB, spending a third on a five tech would be the worst decision the Chiefs could make this offseason.

As proven year after year, those guys are a dime a dozen and can be found on the cheap.

Pioli, because of his selections of Seymour, Warren and Jackson have caused Chiefs fans to over value the position.

You'd like to imagine that the bold would make people realize what you're arguing in your post.

We-he-hellll... it's not very often impact players are available for third round picks. And he can play two positions simultaneously? The cap savings is giving me a semi, ooohyeah

***** has nothing to do with the team getting a former first round pick that has actually played well for a drastic discount because the team is switching schemes.

I'd have no problem giving up a 4th rounder for a guy like Odrick. Shit, move a 4th for him and sign Ratliff for pennies when he hits the open market and we have a nice little DL for a couple years because other teams had scheme changes.

Odrick is only due salaries of 700,000 and 765,000 the next two years.

Anytime you can get a 25 year old quality starter for a 4th, YOU DO IT.

He had 11 sacks the last two years. It would be nice to get that kind of production or better from one of our 3-4 ends.

I hate this "What if" shit before the League Year has begun, before the Combines, before Free Agency, etc.

there were a lot of people here this week that wanted to bring in Chris Canty to play 5 tech before the combines and FA and Odrick is 10000000x better than him. So

But Canty is cheap, much like Shaun Smith, who was also a fan favorite.

The bottom line is that 5 techs are cheap and can be found everywhere.

Linebackers, cornerbacks and safeties are where it's at.

you dont think a 4th or a 5th rounder is cheap for a 34 starter that would be better than anything we would probably get in the 4th or 5th anyway?

Odrick is also cheap contract wise. Cheaper than anything you would pay Canty anyway for comparison sake

I wouldn't give up a high 4th for a guy that Miami is willing to dump.

They'll most likely cut him if they don't want him around.

He'll cost a lot more in salary, though, and you can't franchise Bowe/Albert at $10m and pay Bowe/Albert $10m a year if you're going out and landing guys like Starks.

Anyone who wouldn't trade a lower pick for Odrick doesn't understand football, but a 3rd is steep in principle being that it's the first pick. I'd try my luck at the draft with Dorsey at the helm. He hasn't been THAT good. If it was last offseason, sure thing.
