I guess I don't see why I should care one way or another about this one. If they want to move it, whatever.

Expanding football season.

Yep to the 18 games. It's long enough as it is if your a shitty team and an extra win fucks you in the draft that is.

18 schedule would put the Super Bowl on President Day weekend. Then you fuckers who get drunk on Super Bowl would have off the next day.

http://espn.go.com/nfl/story/_/id/8973183/2013-nfl-combine-nfl-pushing-changes-offseason-sources-say

The NFL is proposing an overhaul to its offseason calendar, pushing back the combine to early March, the start of free agency to early April and the draft to early May, according to league sources.

The plan must be approved by the NFL Players Association, but the league already is pushing it aggressively, meeting on the issue most recently -- but not exclusively -- Thursday night in Indianapolis, where the NFL scouting combine is being held.

Under the proposal, all NFL teams also would kick off training camp on the same summer day, making it the official launch of the football season.

The idea is to lengthen the NFL offseason and make sure football is relevant during a longer offseason period with one big event in each month. It also would create a new revenue stream for the NFL, with each event producing added money for the league.

The NFL also wants to expand regional combines as a feeder competition for spots at the official combine in Indianapolis.

NFL continues to tinker with a good thing. Why?

I like watching the draft but it isn't really at all an event for me personally.

Making more set times that mark events in the preseason like everyone starting training camp the same time makes perfect sense. People get up for set dates like that and it is energy they can use for their product.

People on this board are gonna be all HAPPY BACK TO NFL DAY LETS HAVE 12 BEERS.

It makes sense. Sort of like when people go nutsos for pitchers and catchers reporting. And that is (imo) a lesser product.

That sucks that they changed it to begin with. Mid september is too long to wait for the regular season. ugh

The NFL is like an aging hot chic.

She's been attractive, now she's getting older....and tries to fit into Teen clothing to look younger, and has too much plastic surgery that's going to make her look like the Joker.

Just let me know when the first game is. I'm not really interested in much of what happens in between the Super Bowl and Week 1.

Maybe the NFL should look into a smaller football league where raw talent could go to get some polish and prepare for the NFL. I'm not sure where they would do this, but maybe some place they are trying to "grow the brand" such as London or Europe in general. They may be able to sell some tickets to these games and add some ad revenue too. It would be something they haven't tried before.

They tried that already with NFL Europe. The concept is right but they need to do it in the United States in mid-sized markets.

I dont mind this. If it makes them more money, then by all means. I just hate when they fuck with the actual game and the rules to turn it into flag football.

First we lose Labor Day football. Then the Superbowl gets moved to February. Then the Probowl moves to the week before the superbowl. Rules changes galore. Now they want to move the draft to later in the season. Teams had a hard enough time getting 1st round rookies signed in time for camp as it is. JFC make it stop.

Baseball has been really stable since the 94 work stoppage and the lessoning of the use of steriods in this era. TV contracts, increased attendence in most markets illustrate this.

Football is still king, but I don't know if it is gonna stay that way. It seems really volitile and unsettled right now.

And honestly, being a Cardinal fan is the one point of sanity in my sports life. The Chiefs, the Tigers, and the Blues just suck the life out of me.

I appreciate baseball. Moreso every year.
