View Full Version : Chiefs Thoughts on Geno

Well I started writing my Master's thesis about Ozark music today, had a friend over for dinner and split two bottles of wine between the wife, he, and I. The combo has me writing for the first time in a long while. So I was not pleased with the A. Smith trade, but it's growing on me. With that said, I am cautiously optimistic. Swirl that cautious optimism in with the other two factors, plus the bowl of the old pre-pregnancy vacuum sealed Colorado medical, so that'll make it three, and I've decided in what is probably a "sour grapes" moment to enlighten you all with my opinion of Geno.

He looks like a moron. He may be a mouth breather. I'll most likely not feel this way tomorrow, but at least Alex can grow a semi-respectable beard.
Geno has sleepy eyes, and he can pass a urinalysis. If a guy looks like he's stoned and he can pass a UA, well then...
I'm off to bed and if you're really nice, I'll check up on this thread tomorrow. Just remember, I already poured my glass of anti-freeze while basking in the glow of an AIDS fire. Goodnight, you prince's of the mediocre Midwest, you kings of the castoff QB.

Keep drinking, because Alex Smith is 2-27-1 against teams that score 24 or more points.

I'm not sure I like him. My buddy went home to cuckold his own penis after he laughed at mine. The only one awake is your transexual wife and she can't type or comment right now. His hands and mouth are busy Pawn. Cue Floyd's "Wish You Were Here."

Using that same metric on Peyton Manning and you would think he was Matt Cassel rather than the best QB in the history of the NFL.

Peyton Manning has lost almost twice as many games as he has won when the opposing team has scored 24 or more points, and 81% of his losses occurred when that happened.

Cherry pick your stats all you want, just don't present them in a vacuum.

I'm not a fan of the trade AT ALL, but, like usual, you are just being stupid.

As usual, you are completely obtuse.

The point is that, in 7 fucking years in the NFL, Alex Smith has only beaten two teams that scored 24 or more points.

Peyton Manning has done that THIRTY-EIGHT FUCKING TIMES. (http://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/M/MannPe00/gamelog/)

Joe Flacco did it 4 times last season ALONE.

I want a QB who can win a game when the defense doesn't play well, who can win a shootout.

Alex Smith can't do it. Just like Cassel couldn't (most of the time).

Also priceless is the fact that Matt Cassel has 7 career wins against teams that score at least 24 points.

Assumed as much.

Looking over his game logs there's a TON of high scoring games on both ends. Those were the days. At least we felt like we had a chance going into the 4th quarter. These days it's over if we're down 0-7.

Alex Smith's record against teams that have scored LESS than 24 points probably isn't that good either. And I'd be curious to know how many of those wins had 49er defensive scores in them.

Geno Smith is about the dumbest, ugliest looking thing I've ever seen throw a football.

Just doesn't fit the part. A QB has to look like a movie star to be the face of the franchise. You know, like the only politicians that get elected are the handsome ones...

Besides last season (the one where he threw for 70% and was on pace for career highs across the board before getting hurt), when has Alex Smith ever even had the weapons to score over 24 a game? The best he's had to work with was an oft-injured Gore, a bipolar Vernon Davis who only plays his hardest in the playoffs, and the wannabe diva Crabtree who is just this year starting to come around. Outside of that, it was players like Arnaz Battle, Ted Ginn, and Josh Morgan with Bill Muir-esque play calling quality for most of his career. Smith is coming to a place with better playmakers than he's ever had, on top of the fact that he will have Reid to make sure he utilizes them correctly. Retread or not, Alex will be the best QB we've had since Trent, and probably even better. And there is still hope for Geno at 1.1. There is literally pretty much no one else to take.

All the Alex Smith move says to me is that Reid wants to win now with the talent we have on this roster, and he didn't feel that any rookies were capable of starting and winning this year. Doesn't mean he doesn't want to draft a QB in the first round to build his tenure around, it just means he wanted to have someone he knows he can win with Week 1.

Get at least one competent QB and then we can go fishing for something better in the future. Fishing for a QB when you have nothing on the plate would be horribly irresponsible....potentially opening the door to a season worst than last years. ..."You play to win"

7 Stages of Grief...

1. SHOCK & DENIAL-
You will probably react to learning of the loss with numbed disbelief. You may deny the reality of the loss at some level, in order to avoid the pain. Shock provides emotional protection from being overwhelmed all at once. This may last for weeks.

2. PAIN & GUILT-
As the shock wears off, it is replaced with the suffering of unbelievable pain. Although excruciating and almost unbearable, it is important that you experience the pain fully, and not hide it, avoid it or escape from it with alcohol or drugs.

You may have guilty feelings or remorse over things you did or didn't do with your loved one. Life feels chaotic and scary during this phase.

3. ANGER & BARGAINING-
Frustration gives way to anger, and you may lash out and lay unwarranted blame for the death on someone else. Please try to control this, as permanent damage to your relationships may result. This is a time for the release of bottled up emotion.

You may rail against fate, questioning "Why me?" You may also try to bargain in vain with the powers that be for a way out of your despair ("I will never drink again if you just bring him back")

4. "DEPRESSION", REFLECTION, LONELINESS-
Just when your friends may think you should be getting on with your life, a long period of sad reflection will likely overtake you. This is a normal stage of grief, so do not be "talked out of it" by well-meaning outsiders. Encouragement from others is not helpful to you during this stage of grieving.

During this time, you finally realize the true magnitude of your loss, and it depresses you. You may isolate yourself on purpose, reflect on things you did with your lost one, and focus on memories of the past. You may sense feelings of emptiness or despair.

7 Stages of Grief...

5. THE UPWARD TURN-
As you start to adjust to life without your dear one, your life becomes a little calmer and more organized. Your physical symptoms lessen, and your "depression" begins to lift slightly.

6. RECONSTRUCTION & WORKING THROUGH-
As you become more functional, your mind starts working again, and you will find yourself seeking realistic solutions to problems posed by life without your loved one. You will start to work on practical and financial problems and reconstructing yourself and your life without him or her.

7. ACCEPTANCE & HOPE-
During this, the last of the seven stages in this grief model, you learn to accept and deal with the reality of your situation. Acceptance does not necessarily mean instant happiness. Given the pain and turmoil you have experienced, you can never return to the carefree, untroubled YOU that existed before this tragedy. But you will find a way forward.

7 stages of grief...
