Eh, Reid's TEs tend to be under-utilized and/or lousy.

Don't care, really. He can't be worse than Boss, he's probably not as good as a healthy Moeaki. Depth doesn't impress me much but it doesn't anger me either.

Uh...no. 1 TD and 10 first down conversions in his first 2 seasons in Dallas.

But people did recognize that he was playing better than expected, especially after he went to Miami.

He's another Kevin Boss; some receiving skills, not really a premium guy. But we needed Boss to actually be something last year and he wasn't, so Fasano fills that hole. Hopefully Smith doesn't break him like Cassel did to Boss.

Yeah...I'm slowly warming to it. My first reaction after all the high upside guys like Smith/DRC and even Canty was to say "fuck...this guy?"

But in the end, Fasano's a nice player and should be a pretty good fit in this system. He'll work over the middle and with his skills as a run-blocker, he can help ease the sting of losing Winston's run-blocking.

If you view it for what it could do on a team-wide level, it's actually a very nice pickup.

FTR, Trezell Jenkins was considered a reach with the 31st pick overall while Luke Joeckel is widely regarded as one of the best players available in the draft. No one is really a "can't miss" and Joeckel might only be (one of) the best of a weak lot, but Jenkins isn't really the comparison to make here. Tony Mandarich is a better one.

Fasano is a hell of a blocker, Boss wasn't.

Fasano is a solid all-around player with outstanding hands. He plays hard, he plays smart and he's been durable for most of his career.

He's a nice guy to have on your roster.

The Chiefs biggest problem for years has been the falloff from their best 10 guys to their next 10 guys. The Chiefs are often competitive with the rest of the league through their first 10 players. After that, it's absolute shit.

Well Fasano is a very good component for improving on that. If players 11-30 are better than players 11-30 for the remainder of the league, you're going to win a lot of ballgames. Fasano helps in that regard.

It's not splashy, it's not a panacea, it's just a smart addition.

As I've said before, a brick does not need to be a wall. Fasano's a nice little brick.

Pretty shocked that Anthony Fasano got $16M for 4 yrs frim KC. He gets $4.5M to sign, $5.75M total in 2013, $9.5M in 1st 2 yrs. Wow

I really hope we don't simply have an agressive Pioli as our new GM.

that's NOT what you pay for a #2 TE. not to be a negative nancy, but I had a feeling from the reports they got in a ****ing bidding war for this guy

sad

I doubt that they view him as a #2. They probably entered this process believing that Moeaki was a nice #2.

Well son of a bitch.

We've gone 33% too high for a year too long on every FA we've seen terms for thus far. I'd expect the same once the terms come out on Daniel.

Not nearly as exciting a day as the Bowe day. I think we may have done more harm than good today.

And if you're going to overpay, overpay to get a damn pass-rusher on our D-line. Or a legitimate #2 WR.

We're overpaying for ancillary parts like platoon TEs, run-stuffing 5-techs and backup QBs.

I understand that you have to overpay in FA, but this is half-assed, wrong-headed overpaying that will yield very little return.

The funny thing is that Moeaki really was pretty good over the 2nd half of the season; probably better than Fasano would be.

So either they're resigned to never having a 'healthy' Moeaki or they're just so damn worried about his injuries that they're willing to overpay for his insurance policy.

Because if they've looked at Moeaki and decided he can't be a very good player when healthy, well that's just wrong. For the last 1/2 of the season, he looked almost as good as new.

So are we giving up on a guy who's 2nd half figures put him on pace for 600 yds receiving despite a shit QB and a recent knee injury? Or are we paying for a $4 million backup. Oh, or are we going all copycat again and trying to put together an offense heavy on 2 TE sets despite the fact that Reid has never utilized one.

This just isn't an area where an overpay is a good idea. Nor is backup QB. Nor is a 1-trick pony of a run-stuffer.

Dude, this team needs players. It fucking sucked ass. 2-14!

Additionally, they NEED to spend cap money. They need to change the perception of the Kansas City Chiefs as being cheap and unconcerned with winning.

That starts by bringing in solid, respectable, veteran players, retaining your best players and attempt to build a consistent, winning franchise.

You don't do that by low-balling the Mike DeVito's and Anthony Fasano's of the world. Otherwise, you're stuck with Pituatoa and Jake O'Connell.

Not only has Moeaki been injury prone, the trend these days is to have two athletic TE's on the field in order to create mismatches.

Fasano is an accomplished receiver, as is Moeaki when he's healthy. I don't see the problem.

Fasano and Moeaki... not a bad duo if Moeaki can stay healthy and contribute. Adding Fasano and Avery to the mix should help out, esp if Alex Smith can be the pass happy QB they are hoping for in coming years. I'm curious to see who they bring in (if anyone at RB) to mix things up with JC.

I actually think thats one position group we can stand pat with this year... Charles, Gray and Draughn, i think we can produce with that.

Worst case scenario, we have to pick some decent guy up during the season, thats usually not that hard to do at RB.
