Geoff Schwartz - T - Chiefs

Chiefs agreed to terms with G/T Geoff Schwartz, formerly of the Vikings.
Schwartz appeared in 13 games as a reserve last season after losing the Vikings' right guard job to Brandon Fusco. Schwartz missed all of 2011 with a hip injury, but was a 16-game starter for the Panthers in 2010, primarily at right guard. He'll be a swing man off the Chiefs' bench, and could start in a pinch.

I think Schwartz is probably insurance in case Allen doesn't get it done at RT. If Allen does well there, Asamoah could move to LG and Schwartz could play RG. I imagine they will still go with a guard or center later in the draft, too.

I'm pretty sure this is just a depth signing. If Reid values tackles as much as people say he does, then this guy probably isn't the RT, because he's more of a run blocker than a pass blocker.

He didn't start any games in Minnesota last year, so this is almost certainly not to start. I have a feeling they see him as a swing guard and emergency tackle.

Albert
Asamoah
Allen
Hudson
Schwartz
Stephenson

Still points to Joeckel at 1.1.

13.20 SIGNING! Another player announcement with Geoff Schwartz announcing on twitter that he has signed with the Kansas City Chiefs. Schwartz was bizarrely underused with the Vikings this past season who made it clear they wanted Brandon Fusco at right guard for the long term even though Schwartz outperformed him whenever he was given snaps on the field. For the season Schwartz earned a +5.8 grade on 160 snaps and figures to have the chance to win a starting job in Kansas City under new head coach Andy Reid. Though hampered by injuries Schwartz has always graded well when he has been on the field and if given a fair chance should earn a starting job with the Chiefs and upgrade either of their guard spots. Jon Asamoah was impressive (+15.0) at right guard this past season so the vulnerable member of that interior figures to be last year’s rookie left guard Jeff Allen who earned a -19.5 grade for the season. However under new stewardship this interior could be somewhat in flux with starting spots up for grabs.

I'll tell you this: if this team drafts Geno it will win a Super Bowl, not because Geno is necessarily the GOAT, but because the organization will have played three dimensional chess whilst most others played checkers.

You're smoking the crack pipe. When and if those guys ever get fired (which would be at least 5 years from), it won't be because they didn't draft Geno Smith. What?

If we pass on Geno and commit to Alex Smith, we are subjecting ourselves to mid first rounders the next few years. He isn't good enough to win it all with, nor is he bad enough to get us a top 5 pick. The existing talent on this team ensures that.

If we don't draft a guy high in the draft, we are stuck in the same repeating cycle we have been in FOREVER.

you know the drill...sort through other teams backups every couple years, try to decide if we can turn a Kevin Kolb into an Aaron Rodgers every year because we will be looking at the third or 4th best QB of each class.

Basically the Eagles of the last 4 years.

What did that get Andy Reid?

But a lot of people have Wilson and kaepernick in their to five qb lists already.

That a little premature, but if you guys want to do that I'm going to ask how many super bowls they have won.

It's amazing that in a league where you can draft a first round QB and have a legit shot at stabilizing your team for 13-15 years half the time you take that chance, that there are still people that think you shouldn't do that and instead, buy a bunch of lottery tickets that have a 1:20 shot at hitting.

I dont, theres a lot of evidence that says theres a real walk behind the talk with him, like he doesnt just give the smart answer because he's smart enough to know what the questioner wants to hear... but because thats what he genuinely does and thinks.

He isnt nearly the physical specimen kaepernick is, but i bet he has the brain to offset that enough to approximate or eventually surpass him.

Seattle is going to be a reeeal BITCH for the next several years imo, wilson works too hard and seattle is just too deep and talented for a sophomore slump.

In 2010, he named Donovan McNabb the starter for the year....then, weeks later, he traded him to a division foe...named Kolb the starter for the season...a few weeks later he benched him in favor of Vick...Vick was the unquestioned starter with a 100 million dollar contract in 2011 and went into 2012 the unquestioned starter, until Reid benched his 100 million dollar QB at the halfway point in favor of a third round rookie.

Bradshaw was just a flat out "GAMER in BIG GAMES"

Bradshaw was primarily a game manager who had a bazooka for a throwing arm. Pittsburgh was a great running team, so Terry never put up gaudy numbers.

Bradshaw's game evolved as time passed and age took it's toll on Franco Harris.

It was still a running league, but those Steelers won SBs on the arm of Bradshaw when they needed plays to win.

But his Bazooka Arm was a "Gamer Arm" when needed:thumb: And you can't say that about a lot of NFL system QBs. Let alone having a bazooka arm. Just sayin.
