He's an RFA this year.

So this means the Chiefs will not be re-signing him or placing a tender on him.

Too bad. He was a solid blocking tight end. I see absolutely no reason to let him go.

He was a blocking guy, but after he lost weight, I thought he ran pretty well. I remember one really athletic play he made on a terrible ball Cassel threw. He still didn't get within 5 feet of the pass, it was that bad, but I surprised by the athleticism he showed.

Maneri had quietly become one of my favorite Chiefs. It seems he did what he was asked to do and those away-from-the-body catches did remind me a bit of Gonzo. I wish he would have stayed. :(

More than likely Maneri will be a nobody journeyman. But he did show a few moments that he could be a diamond in the rough in my opinion.

Bottom line it is impossible to judge any WR's or TE's production with what has been throwing them the ball here the last few years.

But for what Maneri actually contributed here, losing him is no big deal.

I guess I used the term favorite too casually. Maybe "favorite" should be categorized into different levels. In that case I should have said one of favorite back ups.

That corrected, what I meant in general was that he seemed to do what he was asked and WHEN he was on the field I enjoyed watching him make those away-from-body catches. I have mentioned that as a pleasant similarity to the master himself, Tony Gonzalez.

If Billy Bajema can keep sticking with teams, so should Maneri. He did fuck Polamalu up on that run. Maneri >> OConnell and most of the other dead weight KC has had at TE.

I think he was a better receiver than given credit. He wasn't targeted that much though. Just my opinion, but I think given a fair chance and proper coaching this guy can be a fairly good TE or better.

It's funny how guys like this capture the average fan's imagination. We always hope they turn out to be some hidden gem when, in reality, 99.99% of the time they don't amount to anything. Just throw Maneri on the pile with Jessie Haynes, Richard Smith, Boomer Grigsby, etc.

I smell mocking here. But if serious, I have to disagree. Though I think he does have a reasonable upside as a receiver.
