It's that time of year. Listening to the radio this morning, and the host was pronouncing it one way while the guest talking head was pronouncing it completely opposite.

How do you say it?

TORN-a-ment?

TURN-a-ment?

No, I'm serious. All Americans can do is the "shrimp on the barbie" bit. You guys send over actors that sound just like us.Ohh okay. Maybe it's becaude a more normal Aussie accent is less of a "shrimp on the barbie mate" type gig, as it is a cross between a British and an American accent. Maybe the cross between the two helps actors etc imitate American/british accents more naturally.

I mean, don't get me wrong, we do say mate and we do have an accent/words only aussies use, and there are people that have quite strong accents, but most people (from cities anyway) have a relatively nuetral (from my perspective anyway) accent, which is -as I said- a cross between british and american accents.
