Finishing Hardwood floors

Well, it's time. I need to refinish about 500 sq feet of hardwood floors.

I have 1 or 2 inch oak slats. It has been refinished before. It appears that about 1/8 to 1/4 of wood has been taken off previously. It also appears that I only have about 1/4" or so of wood to work with.

Anyone do this? Any pro's? Any tips?

Hire a professional. It's not a extremely difficult job, but nothing looks worse than a bad finish job on oak floors.

i've already started in one bedroom. I at least want to do that one by myself. My living and dining rooms though....

I am calling a pro tomorrow to come take a look and give me an estimate for the living and dining rooms.

You got it stripped yet? Oak floors are fairly easy to do. Lots of satisfaction and money saved doing them yourself

It would have had "licking carpet" in the title instead of "finishing floors". Both expressions sound like construction terms but they have very different meanings.
