Hey, anybody here check out the Kansas City Renegades of the CPIFL? I'm the PA Announcer for the Omaha Beef, our first year in this league. We played Kansas City a few weeks ago. I gotta say, the indoor game gets me through the spring and gives me a much needed football fix. It's fun football, fast and hard hitting. Just curious if anybody here has checked it out in Kansas City.

They even stream games live.

Seriously, I recommend checking it out. it's fun, and it's cheap entertainment.

That is all.

I went to a game, couldn't get into it. I like defense.

It is definitely about scoring, I'll give you that. But, at least with the Beef, there are quite a few games that come down to defense. Last weekend we played a team from Sioux City with a 31 game winning streak. Took 2 OT's and a goal line stand by the defense to win the game.

The beef is a pretty badass name.

The beef is a pretty badass name.

When they started in 1999, people (including me) hated the name because it makes Omaha sound like...well...a cow town.

But it's really stuck and they have all kinds of other Beefy stuff:

Arena Name - The Slaugterhouse
Male dance team - the Rump Roasters (these guys are hilarious and entertaining)
Dance team - Prime Dancers
Fan club - the Meatheads
Mascot - Sir Loin

and so forth. Beef football is a blast.

I always have wanted to go watch minor league sports in a town without a pro giant. I bet it is a great environment. Arena games here seem to be less lively than royals games.

I go to the Salina Bombers games. Been to 2 of the first 3 games. I really enjoy them.

That's what I heard from our crowd. Said the fans were good but not crazy like we are. Hell, I've gone on road trips where we were louder with 50 people than the whole home arena...Omaha has NOTHING in the offseason, so Beef football could really fill a void...if people would give it a chance.

What about naming another team the Meat Rockets?

Cool. They seem to be doing pretty well so far.

Heh. If you've got the money to buy one, I'm sure the league would accommodate:evil:...

Yup 2-1 to start the season. What helps the Bombers is the fact they have a good QB in Dane Simoneau. He was the Harlan Hill runner-up at Washburn.

Also for you guys in KC, you have a wide receiver named OJ Simpson. Yes, that's his real name. He's a great guy, played with the Beef for I think 4 seasons. Lots of fun to watch, we really miss him up here.

QB makes a ton of difference in this league, which is pass happy as hell. Gotta have a dude who can throw...

Why aren't the Renegades in the AFL?

Bigger league, more expensive to run the team, more cost for tickets is my guess. The point of the CPIFL is that it's pretty cheap. I think tickets run 8-15 a game to start depending on the franchise.

That's the other thing I like about the Indoor game. Most of these guys are quality players, some are trying to catch on in Canada and even the NFL, but they don't make shit. Most play for absolute love of the game. There's something cool about that...

To get an NFL fix their used to be an NFL Quarterback Challenge. It was kind of like an all star contest for QBs. It sucked but better then the crappy reality shows they have now.

I like the Indoor game because it's actually a football season, with something to follow and something at stake.
