he was just on NFL Draft deal on ESPN vehemently saying reid will draft a QB, and said he doesnt matter at what spot--1.1 or 1.32.

He truly sounded like a bunch of folks around here.

As much as I'd like to believe him, he doesn't have any more credibility right now than all the people saying we're drafting Joeckel or Fisher. Actually, considering that he's bucking conventional wisdom, he has less credibility than they do.

Here's to hoping that he's the first of many to begin reporting this over the next 24 hours.

He said that after the other guys on the panel asked about who was worth the 1.1? He was saying it doesnt matter, if you want QB, youll get one. And then went on about people getting fired for not having a franchise QB. even brought up the Jake Long/Matt Ryan situation everyone talks about around here.

true, but he did bring up how Reid drafted mcNabb, and it basically came from nowhere. A surprise pick basically. He was adamant that Reid will get a QB. But, of course, it could be on Friday, as we all know...

he was speculating. the 1.1 or 1.32 thing was him saying it doesnt matter where in the first round you get a qb, you are tied to him no matter what. and you sink or swim with them. he wasn't implying that reid was thinking QB. He was basically saying it was a possibility. He seems pretty fucking sick of talking about offensive tackles. lmao i believe he said "enough with these darn tackles.

There are 5 QB's looking to go in the top 2 rounds.

One of them will be a franchise QB. I'm not saying I know better than NFL GM's do but one of these guys will work out.

Albert deal gets done with the Fish, and winds up being the #42 pick.

The #42 pick and the #63 pick are packaged and moved to Minnesota for one of their picks, say #23. Points value on that deal is very close by the chart.

1.1 Joeckel or Fisher... whichever LT they desire.
1.23 Geno... if he falls like the pundits seem to think. Not just him, all QB's.

It depends on how you're defining "franchise, I guess. From the P. Manning draft forward, though

2002
2003
2006
2007
2010

are drafts where you'd have to stretch the definition of franchise (Palmer, Bradford), and on top of that,

2000 (Brady)
2001 (Brees)
2011 (Jury still out, but Kapaernick and Dalton were outside round 1)

are drafts where the best QBs were, or may be, after round 1.

That means we traded our first three picks AND Albert for Alex Smith, Geno Smith, and one of the OT. Despite the initial feeling of being ripped off, I would feel ecstatic that we finally have depth at the QB position.

Then unless they like Nassib or some other QB that high you stay put and pick at #42 and #63.

If Geno doesn't go by Buffalo, there is a chance he makes it into the 20's. Especially if he gets by the Jets two picks.

Yeah, but you could sign Geno to a 5 year deal instead of a 4 year deal. That makes letting him sit for a year or two be more feasible as well.

Jon Gruden: Ryan Nassib Is My No. 1 QB

ESPN Monday Night Football analyst Jon Gruden hosted his annual pre-draft QB Camp series which allows draft prospects to show their football smarts, skills and personality. In all, Gruden spent significant time with 12 of the top prospects in this year's draft class, which included some non-quarterbacks. During a conference call this week with reporters, Gruden offered his analysis of the quarterbacks. A number of mock drafts have projected the Eagles selecting a signal caller when the NFL Draft takes place this upcoming week.

Gruden ranked Syracuse's Ryan Nassib, a West Chester, Pa. native and Malvern Prep alum, as the No. 1 quarterback in the draft.

"I selfishly really like this kid in Syracuse," Gruden said. "I think he's a nuisance runner. I think he can scramble for first downs. If we want to run the read option, I think he can execute those plays. He's really sharp mentally. This is a guy that's been trained by Doug Marrone, formerly of the New Orleans Saints. So he's been in a really ambitious offensive scheme, taking care of the ball. He's proven he's tough, durable. I like his upside.

"He threw some tight window completions, and that's hard to find sometimes in college football. You don't see a lot of really contested, tight window throws under duress. I thought Nassib proved that he could make the difficult plays when there wasn't a clean pocket. He didn't have a great supporting cast, no disrespect to Syracuse. But there were times that Nassib had to make something happen for Syracuse to win, and I thought he did that enough to prove that he can do it at the next level."

And that is relevant, how?

Ron Jaworski spends more time studying the NFL in general and quarterbacks in particular than, well, just about anybody.

He can study QB's all he wants, but he has no clue who the Chiefs are going to draft. He should know more than anyone that this organization has always been committed to not drafting QB's.

This board will melt down tomorrow night if the Chieftains don't draft Geno.

We've been in meltdown mode since they traded for Alex Smith.

How about this...

Could you live with that if the scenario starts to play out tomorrow night?

COULD I LIVE WITH THAT?

She didn't say no, though.

So. There's that.

It's going to make setting my Facebook relationship status really difficult.

It's complicated works. :thumb:
We will revisit subject when I come to KC. It really looks like I'm coming for opening day at Arrowhead.;)

Gruden make Nassib sound like a good fit for an Andy Reid offense. The question I have, not being familiar with Nassib, can he take the top off a defense with accurate down field throws?

Turn the page back a couple of times and watch him against USC this past season and see what you think. A lot of people consider that one of his better games in his career.
