How would one mirror computer monitors?

I just bought a Dell 660 with 2 monitors. I have an executive desk with a cradenza behind me. The cradenza is where I do most my work. The second monitor is on the executive desk to display towards my clients. I would like the second monitor to mirror what is showing on my main display.

I have the main monitor plugged into the HDMI port and the second monitor is plugged into the vid port. I'm running windows 8.

The son just told me to run the monitors in serial...cpu to 1st monitor via HDMI in serial to the 2nd monitor via vid cable. Would that work?

Just put a mirror up that reflects the image off of your main screen.

yes that would work. you have to enable "duplicate desktop."
