I know football or football players is a most rare and unusual thing to be discussed on this board, but none the less:


Shefter said on NFL live that Cassel is good enough and should unseat Ponder for the starting role sometime during the season.

I suppose relatively speaking.....Cassel vs. Ponder.....what say you?

Schefter is where he is b/c of his sources and the regularity with which he breaks stories. Not b/c of his football knowledge.

That said, Cassel has seniority and experience, that is all. If Ponder remains awful, Cassel might take his place and Schefter might appear smart to some, but it's not necessarily b/c he's good enough. It will likely be b/c he's not Ponder.

Him barely missing it was horrible. The interview where he found out how close he was just cemented my respect for him. He got over that disappointment with a fury.

Hope he makes it this year.

You're not reporting what he said accurately. He said that his sources in league circles believe that Cassel may unseat Ponder, and that Cassel is good enough to take his job.

He never said that he himself thought that Cassel was better.

Christian Ponder is going into his third year in the league, about the same time that Drew Brees started to get it.

Matt Cassel is going into his 10th year?
He has 5 years f starting experience, essentially.

Ponder still has a chance to get it.
Cassel has 0 chance.
