Ok, so I'm an asst coCh of a 10u baseball team. Had a game tonight. I sorta sit off to the side and watch. I'm more of a practice coach.

Anyhow, I notice a dad bitching at the head coach and cussing at an asst coach in front of the boys. He called a coach "shit for brains".

Sooo, guy takes his kid and leaves the game in the 2nd inning. Calls coach a deuche? And I say " if you'd called me that, I'd be punchin your teeth in (. Building up biz). So guy comes back, gets in my face, I out him in a choke hold, and he gives. Takes his boy home. Sad deal. Soooo, I sent an email to aPologize for the whole thing , and the guy says he
Ll believe I'm sincere if I send it to all the Parents. Reeally?
What would y'all do?

Ever wonder why there are so many people who act like this in public? Whether they're screaming at a coach, or cutting in line, or shoving their way through a crowd, or doing a hundred other shitty things? Because nobody ever calls them on it. Let the loudmouth asshole bully and bluster, because standing up to him is wrong - there's a great lesson to teach your kids.

The only thing tooge did wrong was to apologize to the cocksucker later. He didn't hit him, he didn't hurt him. What he did was teach the prick a lesson about not acting like a douche in public. Good for him.

It's not a good thing to do but I can see how easy it happens.

I had no idea how many complete assholes were little league coaches and parents.
I coach a young, coach pitch team. I've told 3 coaches and opposing parents to stop jawing at our kids(team) this year. taunting 1-2nd graders? really...I ALWAYS tell kids from other teams the are doing a good job after a nice play, or good hit when they get one. I've reminded them that this is coach pitch youth ball and we're teaching kids to have fun and learn to play ball with sportsmanship....but I'm not letting them get abused by some asshole who thinks he is coaching in the world series.

Last week a parent in another town was standing by the fence at first base, bitching about their own coach to another coach...and to him in front of their kids....and running his mouth at us and our kids. The other coach's crime? Caring more about his team having fun than winning also. Seemed like a good guy.

In the 4-5th inning, he started running his mouth to one of our kids who had just gotten his 2nd hit of the entire year, in our last game. That's when I walked over and quietly said my piece to him. I wouldn't punch someone over a little league game, but I apparently could be talked into it for being a dick to our kids.

If you think coaching is bad with parents....try being a base ump for a tournament.

I guess I have bigger things to get mad about than most of these people.

Well, u had to be there . This guy was verbally abusing all the coaches and I told him to leave. He didn't. In fact, he told me and one of the coaches to " fuck off, you leave". All this was in front of the boys. The altercation wasn't. I apologized to the boys and all the parents after the game for having to witness the entire thing. They all clapped and said I did the right thing. Of course, they didn't see the physical part of it in the parking lot.
I'm not ashamed at all. I'm not letting some jackass swear at the coaches in front of the boys.

TBH, a lot of people need the piss beaten out of them. tooge's post clarified his behavior and made a lot more sense than him just walking up to the guy like he was Jason Statham ready to break some tracheas (I didn't know a trachea could break).

The problem with fuckstomping someone in front of kids is that they have a hard time understanding the escalation of the situation, even if you are trying to be diplomatic. Thus, going to a remote area to talk further whilst collapsing this dude's airway is perfectly sensible.

I coached basketball many years. The parents were mostly great but had several that took things way to far. Yelling at refs that were just kids themselves. It is great to win but they lose sight that it should be fun. Why play a sport if it is not going to be fun.

It sounds like the guy is a bully and got what was coming to him. There is absolutly no place for that in kids sports. He probably beats his kids and wife as well. Great job Tooge for taking out the trash!!

Just found it too:

I've been in lots of fights. A few I've won big time, a few were bloody draws, and most of the rest didn't amount to much. But there was that one time.... :grr:

Senior year. Got in a shoving match at lunch with a guy who was picking on one of my friends (really small guy who never fought). The bully in question was well hated, and a fight between us was set for Friday night at the fairgrounds. Fights like this are prime entertainment in small towns, and a good chunk of the high school showed up to watch. Prior to the fight, I listened to Eye of the Tiger (this was 1983) over and over to get psyched out. A friend picked me up. My friend convinced me that I needed to relax (MORON) and handed me a pint of Southern Comfort and a joint. I hit both doob and bottle hard, and was completely f#cked up when we reached the fairgrounds. My friend's van door slides open, I stagger out amid a cloud of pot smoke, take a swing at the guy, miss by a mile, fall over, and then get beat bloody in front of EVERYBODY. I was lucky I didn't lose any teeth, but I had two black eyes, and bruised and blooded everything on my face.

My friends cleaned me up as best they could and dumped me off at home. I was still drunk and high, and scratched the hell out of the front door trying to open it. Finally, I got the key in, turned the knob, pushed open the door and fell flat on my face on the living room floor. When I opened my eyes, I saw my stepmom's toes in front of my face. I looked up at her and said "AW, F#CK."

So, on top of getting a humiliating asskicking in front of the entire school by a complete asshole, I got grounded for two weeks for getting drunk and fighting (luckily no one detected the pot, or I'm sure I would have got a second beating that night).

The good news - apparently the bully wasn't particularly impressive in beating my semi-conscious body, and somebody else kicked his ass shortly thereafter. He quit bothering people. I also challenged him to a rematch, which he declined. Further, I didn't make excuses - I took my lumps and post-fight abuse like a man. So I learned two important life lessons - never fight when you're drunk/high, and if you get your ass kicked, be honest about it.

This reminds me of an incident that occurred back when I used to coach little league up in Canada.

I was an assistant coach and for the most part I was in charge of teaching the kids how to hit. I was really good at giving them instructions that I could relate to; in fact I was so good that they started calling me "Hitman."

Anyhow, there was this constant loudmouth dad. I think his name was Shawn or Michael or something like that. He was always generally disrespectful and he thought he was God's gift to women with his long lair. All of the other parents hated him too. He would parade around and call himself "Sexy Boy" and talk about inappropriate subjects with his friend Hunter.

Well, one day he took it too far and started disrespecting Canada (he was from the USA). I told him that I'd had enough of his crap and to not mess with the Hitman. He challenged me to throw down. I went to take off my awesome pink shaded sunglasses (it was the mid 90s) and hand them to one of the kids so they wouldn't get broken in the fight. Well, when I turned around Shawn grabbed a folding chair and swung it at me. I happened to see him out of the corner of my eye so I had time to duck. While he was off balance from his miss, I gave him a quick kick to the stomach. As he was doubled over from the kick, I landed a quick uppercut that sent him sprawling. I hastily climbed the dugout fence and jumped down on him with a flying elbow. This kept him down, but he was still mouthing off. I decided to apply a move my dad Stu taught me. It was a leglock we called "the Sharpshooter." I got the Sharpshooter locked in. After about 5 seconds, Shawn had had enough. He tapped out and vowed to never come back. All of the other parents in the stands were cheering me. I reminded Shawn that "I am the best there is, the best there was, and the best there ever will be." As soon as I said that, the announcer guy played a cool heavy metal song over the loudspeakers.

After that debacle, I moved on to another less successful little league. I retired quickly afterward though and I was never able to replicate the success I had in the original little league.

The only mistake that I think tooge made was escalating the situation immediately. The guy was obviously being an asshole and deserved to have this fact spelled out for him. Beginning with "if you'd called me that, I'd be punching your teeth in", leaves no room for anything but a violent encounter. Tooge should have followed the guy to the parking lot and attempted to explain to him that his behavior was unacceptable and will not be tolerated in the future. If the guy still wants to act like Billy Badass and is unwilling to listen to reason, then you give him a beat down in the parking lot.

Then after the beat down you remove the T-tops from your TransAm and blast Whitesnake from the stereo as you drive away. That way the kids still think you're cool.

Not a big production to embarass them but quietly and politely told them they were expected to step off the grounds. They could wait in their car but they would not be watching this game or harassing these kids, coaches, and staff any more that day. And if it came to it I would have a unit dispatched to escort them off the field and my credibility was better than theirs.

I always wrapped with, "shut up or make the kids smile. If you can't do that then leave."

I'm not ashamed at all. I'm not letting some jackass swear at the coaches in front of the boys.

I've seen people like that and when I officiated, I made a point to eject them so the parents and coaches didn't have to deal with it (I had a 12U tournament team league where I ejected 6 parents and a coach in like 90 seconds one time for starting shit with the other team). Next time go to the umpire and have him eject the fucker. Most leagues have explicit rules stating that type of behavior will not be tolerated. Usually those little leagues also have rules about the number of ejections too. Get the guy thrown out a couple times and let the league administrators handle it.

Like I said, I umped for damn near a decade. I've started coaching again recently and I used to help coach my youngest brother's teams when I was younger too. There are several ways to prevent that shit, and as someone else mentioned you should have left off the punch you in the teeth remark. Also, now that I coach, at the first practice I make a big speech that we are out there for the kids and I will not tolerate berating the kids, other team, or officials. Once the expectation is set, it goes a long way with the other parents policing each other's behavior.

Parents acting like jackasses at little league games is a huge pet peeve of mine. I'm pretty good at shaming those people into stopping that behavior since I've had to deal with it so much. I've had coaches try to fight me when I umped, and I've made them look so dumb that they later come up and apologized.

And 10U is usually the worst age group for that shit. I hated umping for that age group. All the parents think their kids are way better than they are. A lot of them don't know the game at all so it makes it even worse.

Why for defending other coaches? That is the problem- nobody wants to stand up and do anything in these situations.

he instigated the fight with the man AFTER he was leaving with his kid. He waited there, watched the entire exchange, did nothing, said nothing. then once the guy was leaving this dickwad puffed out his chest and told him he'd kick his ass. Then didn't. He's a paper tiger.

And as others stated, any sports league I've been around (even for adults) have a zero tolerance violence policy, and he should be banned if this is true.

Sounds like the guy needed straightening out, so I don't see any real problem here, if he was in your face the way you claim. At that point, it's self defense whether he swings first or not. Never admit to potentially criminal behavior in writing, though, even if you might have a defense to it.

I've been both a coach and a parent/fan. My perspective is : if you don't like how the coach handles things, get your own team and coach your kid. Put all the time in for practices/games/administration of schedules/dealing with parents and then get upset. Until then, appreciate that someone cares enough to spend time with your kid.

I'm assuming pretty much everyone here played little league. Bad calls by umps happened every game. It's freaking junior high and elementary kids..who do you expect is out there calling the games?

And after a bad call was made EVERYONE knew the call was wrong. Coaches, players (on both teams), and parents in the stands. That was part of the learning experience. Knowing that not everytime in life things turn out the way you want them or even fairly. These dads that curse and attack referees, other parents, and other kids are setting such a horrible example for their kids. Most of the kids of these psychos know it too. But what can they do?

It's a problem that parents expect to see their kid playing time whereas the kid is not committed to the cause or wanting to get better, yet the kid complains to his parents and the parent goes against the coach, and complain about the lack of playing time.

I know that I coach, but even if I was not a coach, if my kid complained about lack of playing time, I would ask my kid instead of the coach "Well, what are you doing to fix it? Are you hitting baseballs on your free time? Or are you running/jogging to build up your stamina? etc. etc." The coaches are only having your kid for almost 2-3 hours a day on a certain sport, and 8 hours for school. It's UP to the parents to find a way to HELP their kid get better, not bitch at the coach.

Tooge, you don't need to apologize to any of the parents because my guess is you did what they really wanted to do as well for a long time. Next time though use your words more 'piercingly to the heart' that is far more effective than curse words or actual physical contact. Example, "I can't imagine what it's like behind closed doors for your son and your family now knowing that you can act this way embarrassing them and especially your son in public like this." Where's the positive dad/husband role model leadership here ?

At that point, he either tells you to 'f' off and walk away thus thinking about what you said, OR he physically assaults you first then you can justify your 'choke hold':D

Soft spoken sober words turn away wrath and demand an honest self-assessment of personal character or lack thereof, most of the time.

But I get it, Tooge, watching 'bullies' get away with it time and time again with no repercussion and embarrassing all involved and those around watching gets very old.:shake:

If there is any apology to be given, it might be to his son and family who saw you do this in front of them. That's hard to see and I realize you didn't mean to make him look small in front of them. Just a thought.

You should have punched his teeth in like you threatened. Then you should have apologized and offered to fix them free of charge. Once he was under snap some photos of your dick in his mouth and post them to his Facebook timeline. That's much better than a tap out via rear naked choke.

Here's what I don't get:
1) You said the dad took his boy and left, but then comes back-- back where? Did it happen in the parking lot, or at the field? Either way, it seems like it would've happened in front of a kid (his son) or a number of kids (the players).
2) You said he kept saying "hit me", and you wouldn't, so you put him in a choke hold. If you were having a face-to-face altercation with no physical interchange, how did you manage to get behind him?
LADIES AND GENTLEMEN OF THE JURY, IF THE CHOKE DOES NOT FIT, YOU MUST ACQUIT!

The only thing tooge did wrong was to apologize to the one who sucks the penis later. He didn't hit him, he didn't hurt him. What he did was teach the prick a lesson about not acting like a douche in public. Good for him.

Seems like a lot of the ladies here got offended by that. Maybe you should all run out and get yourselves a new skirt. :shake:

An appropriate response would be to let the guy know that, while his son is welcome to play out the rest of the season, he has lost the privilege of attending games as he cannot conduct himself properly in public. Then the coaches could explain to the rest of the children after the game that behavior like that is ann embarrassment, is unacceptable, and will not be tolerated.

As it stands, Tooge and the other guy should both be banned from future games for their behavior. Frazod should also be banned for having such a stupid opinion and being a poor example of acceptable body composition for these young, aspiring athletes.

1. Must involve six or more people.

Plus

2. No weapons that are actual weapons. All weapons must be improvised.

Plus

3. There are more than two teams in the brawl.

Plus any two of the following three

a. Someone gets thrown through a window.
b. Someone gets hit in the back with a chair.
c. Someone gets thrown through a swinging door of some kind.

Also, I think I dismembered him after beheading him. I found a foot in the back of my truck. The shoe on it was pretty douchy, so it was probably his foot. What is the actual definition of a brawl, anyway? My definition would be this:

Am I correct?

Someone has to be wearing a wife-beater.

Tooge,

If you are an assistant coach of the team you should know the parents, the parents should know you, and you should be able to speak to them in an adult manner.
