People bitch and moan about best player available when we reach for need, but when we finally take the BPA everyone is ready to shoot themselves.

There were 3 OTs taken in the first 4. So that leaves Dion Jordan (who was considered an epic reach), Ansah, Mingo, or Tavon Austin.

Anyone complaining should have to include which of those guys they would have been doing backflips if we would have taken.

John Clayton said on NFL live that KC is making an offer this weekend and that this is the one contract of franchise tag players that has a chance to get done.

Ryan Clady and the Broncos have made significant progress this week. Broncos' offer has $33M over its first 3 years, all $33M guaranteed.https://mobile.twitter.com/AlbertBreer/status/355826847608602624?p=v

Although there is no agreement, the sides are getting closer to finding common ground on several key issues for a contract that would allow the Broncos to keep their All-Pro left tackle for the next five years at a sum greater than $50 million.

A potential breakthrough in negotiations came when there appeared to be agreement on the guaranteed portion of the contract, the sources said. The sides are still haggling over dollars in annual and total value.

I mean come on did you expect for it to work out any different?

We didn't suck for Luck or RGIII in 2011, that was our ship...and it sailed away.

I mean if you had a chance to get a franchise QB and save the franchise for the next decade and then some, you tank the season after starting out 0-3 in historically bad fashion.

I sure as hell don't think AS is the answer. And I sadly believe that when it's all said and done. Bowe, Charles, Flowers, Hali, DJ, will all be past their primes, and we're still going to looking for a fucking QB. Right back and square fucking one.

I don't think he is either, just making a point. I'd take Romo without thinking twice.

People whine about this so-called "vocal minority", yet he was more vocal about what he believed in than anyone here. I guess people ignore that because they like stories of date rape and golden showers.

Don't get me wrong, I like Rick. I like him a lot.

But he's no different than those he opposes. Other than the drunken debauchery, of course.

Honestly he was "more vocal" about his views b/c they were so original/unique, that they were meet with a lot of criticism. He'd be having a completely unrelated conversation, and someone would attack him based on his views on Romo. So he defended his views. At least he didn't back peddle.

He's beasting out the line and putting in his b/u QB to run his offense.

Our line should be in beast mode once it gels and is built with a bunch of guys in their early or mid 20s, so we should be able to sustain a high quality line for the foreseeable future.

He helped us beat 2 playoff teams and we won 2 of his 3 starts and probably should have won all 3.

Andy Reids offenses get the ball out quicker than the 49ers offenses did. Reid won't have him dropping back and scanning the field for a long time or deliberately taking sacks.

Why does every player have to have a "just right" situation on this team in order to be successful? Carr and Flowers certainly didn't. It's time to narrow the leeway and start expecting big time results from this crew. There is not one viable excuse left.

LMAO Overpaid. Okay. He played LT in the NFL because he was touted as a LT coming out.

Albert's being paid in the top five of all offensive lineman this season.

Unless he outplays everyone in the Top Five this upcoming season, he's overpaid.

The only reason he's paid in the top five this year is because of the franchise tag. Meaning he's not being paid this year's salary based on his individual performance. If he had a contract in the top five, you might have a point...

Unless he outplays ONE of the top five this upcoming season, he's overpaid. If he is being paid as the #5 tackle he doesn't need to play as the #1 tackle to be overpaid.

I agree that he is likely overpaid this year though. Franchise tag, what can you do.

It's still valid.

If he performs like a Top Five tackle, he's been paid commensurately. If he doesn't, he's overpaid.

Albert Breer just said on NFL Total Access that if B Albert holds up this year he will get paid next year. Said Reid has a history of investing in both right and left tackle. Breer definently sees a future for B Albert in KC.

My guess would that it would be a three year contract. That way BA and Fisher's contract would expire at the same time. Let BA go and move Fisher to LT with a new long-term deal.

So give him a 3-year deal NOW when he's a year younger.

I'm with TBG - he's gone. They've tried to trade him, they haven't tied him up long term - which would help with the cap - I don't think they have any intentions of paying him past this season.

The Chiefs have an option to retain Fisher for a fifth year but it must be exercised immediately after season two.

Regardless, Fisher is the long term solution at left tackle. And depending on how the season shakes out, it would surprise me to see him starting at left tackle at some point.

Which is freaking dumb. Fisher had better be 10 times the left tackle Albert ever was, otherwise drafting Fisher first overall and letting Albert walk is a complete wash and doesn't improve the team at all. We might as well have re-signed Albert and given away our 1st round pick away for nothing, it's pretty much the same thing.

IF ... Fisher turns out
IF ... we get a decent trade offer for Albert next year

both IF's aren't longshots

It could work out fairly well regardless of how painful it is for some taking an OL that high.

Trading Albert and putting Fisher at LT this year would of been risky. It would of made our OL extremely young, especially in a transition year.

MotherfuckerJones
07-15-2013, 08:37 PM
Ya I said trade him next year because this year we would've been really young on the oline . But even if we get a 3rd rd comp thats fine. No team would give what we wanted (2) this year. So its just a round off. Have a good oline this year. Let some young guys mature and next year let Fisher take over at LT and Stephenson RT.

We had a very good LT already...

Now we are in a no win situation, lose him for a ham sammy and a bro job

or overpay for him to begrudgingly move

or have our #1 pick play RT

etc

I really do not see yet how this was a great use of our #1 overall once in a lifetime pick.....

Unless Albert has worse physical problems than they are saying or Fisher is like a no-questions-asked top 3 LT then I really don't get it...

Hey Buttfuck, if he walks and he's as good as your Mongoloid brain believes him to be, the Chiefs will get a third round compensatory pick.

1. Average left tackles don't give up 4 sacks combined in two seasons.

2. This team has a 4-5 year window with the arrival of Alex Smith and the aging of the roster's core. Albert could be a part of that.
