THE QUEST FOR .500

I will be the sacrificial lamb. Wanksta Wade on the bump. I am in a great ****ing mood and and even better mood if Wade pitches Jim Johnson well and we win the series tonight.

ALSO if the Royals win tonight they achieve .500!!!!

7:05 EST

Will be edited with lineups as soon as I see them.

Gotta keep the kid fresh.

Plus, Kottaras loves to pull the ball and should fare well at Yankees Stadium. I also love his plate discipline, which tends to be contagious.

Is Perez hurt? If not, WHY ON GOD'S GREEN EARTH IS HE NOT CATCHING AGAIN TONIGHT?

This

Kottaras (sp?) sucks behind the plate. I was at Sunday's finale against the A's and was sitting really close. I never realized how terrible he is defensively. Horrible arm and he couldn't block a damn thing. Perez can handle starting 3 straight, then if you want to, give him the day game (tomorrow) off.

Chris Meck
07-10-2013, 02:28 PM
because catching is pretty physically brutal and we'd like to have the kid in good shape come late August. Catchers will always play less than other positions due to the demands of the position.

Plus, it means you can PH the kid in the late innings if need be. save some wear and tear.

Salvy is 23. The day night thing shouldn't bother him - especially when you have most of next week off and you just sat him Sunday.

Yeah, plus with the righty tonight and Pettitte tomorrow, it makes sense to start Kottaras.

From Pinetar Press:

Nova doesn’t have a huge split, but he does actually do better against right-handed batters than lefties, which is a bit odd considering his repertoire. That’s something that has been happening throughout his entire career, so it’s not a small sample size aberration from this year.

All that said, Righties do much better against Petite and Perez could have a big game against him.

Technically, I can see why, because the Royals had the knack of trading away quality players (Beltran, Dye, Damon, etc) with nothing to show for it in return.

I'm tired of trading away good quality players for shit players in return. I rather much keep Perez and Hos than to trade them away.

Plus, with Hudler's acts in the announcing, it just got so old quickly, that I just had to mute the game in order to watch it.

Word. Game was over but Davis will get multiple more starts. Who else you gonna put out there? It's the same chit different year. The question I have is will the Royals have the balls to be sellers. We aren't winning chit this year. Trade Santana. He would instantly be the best pitcher on the mkt if they put him on the block. I would also put Butler on the block. He's a one trick pony.

No, trading Billy because we are not in the position to afford a one trick pony that doesn't even do that trick very well.

I have called for a Butler trade for going on 3 years simply because he is a player we can possibly get something for and not miss too much in the lineup.

Trade him to whom? It has to be an AL team for starters...

We've gone through this a million times; Butler is a very, very good hitter, whose value is almost certainly greater to the Royals than to about any other team.

All the reasons you're killing Billyy, which are largely hyperbolic, are also evocative of the reasons why his trade value is marginalized.

For what? If it's someone like Stanton... sure, sign me up. But unless the Royals move to the NL somebody has to DH. It's not like that position goes away. The guy just won the Silver Slugger Award at the one position where all you do is hit. Why on earth would you trade him?

hyperbolic? Come on. Now I agree he is worth more to us than say Detroit or Cleveland. But that being said it shows how over-stated he is. Royals fans act like he is just as valuable to them as he is us when in reality that isn't so. Anyhow, I'd trade him if the deal were right.

There always could be a deal out there I would take, but realistically I don't think you guys could get a deal worth trading away Butler. I like the guy a lot. Not only is he underrated in the league but he is in fantasy as well. I still am expecting/hoping for a big second half for him. As it has been mentioned, a guy near or at .300 25/100 is pretty damn good. And really as the years go on I think that's probably more like 30/100. Hitting 3 categories, and that's not even counting doubles, is more than a 1 trick pony.

Again, there is always a trade worth considering, but I don't see that happening.

Like I've been saying all season... leaving a lockdown late weapon like Louis Coleman in Omaha was a near-criminal offense while wastes of space like JC Gutierrez dotted the MLB bullpen.

The Royals' BEST bullpen would look like this:

Holland
Davis
Crow
Collins
Baummann* (lefty specialist)
Coleman* (righty specialist)
Hochevar (mop-up)

* WIth specialists like this, it's important to use them judiciously and NOT expose them to opposite-handed hitters. I don't trust Yost to do that, but it's the way a GOOD manager would do it.

Also, Tim Collins would never be used as a lefty specialist again.
