"Hali, a three-time Pro Bowl linebacker, spent part of his summer hanging out with Rener and Ryron Gracie, members of the legendary Gracie family who created Brazilian/Gracie Jiu-Jitsu. Hali went to visit the Gracie Academy in Southern California, which is operated by Rener and Ryron with the help of family members and close friends"

Thought this was pretty cool since I like Jiu-Jitsu.

My question is why doesn't the rest of our defensive line do this too if it is so beneficial? If it is a valid training technique the coach should make them.

BJJ?

First, BJJ doesn't place an emphasis on hand-fighting skills like collegiate/freestyle/greco-roman wrestling does. In fact, more TMAs (traditional martial arts) provide a better philosophy and inclusion of hand fighting technique than BJJ. Hence, Tamba has worked with a TMA guy IIRC for the past 4 years for hand technique alone.
