In seven seasons (excluding one spent on IR), Alex Smith has one playoff win.

In five seasons, Matt Ryan has had one playoff win.

If you believe that Alex Smith and Matt Ryan have been given equal coaching and personnel, your joke is valid.

I tend believe that Alex Smith has been given a disproportionate amount of talent and coaching as compared to Matt Ryan.

This debate will soon be over. January is a little more than 5 months away.

Dane, you sound like you think we win more games than Atlanta this year.

Tell ya what.

I'll make a bet with you on wins for Atlanta and KC this year if you want.

Care to discuss details?

I'm ALWAYS willing to stand behind my opinions and back them up.

I don't bet on things I can't control.

I've never said that KC would win more games than Atlanta, nor have I ever implied that the Chiefs would win more games than Atlanta.

What I clearly stated was that in seven eligible seasons, Alex Smith has won a single playoff game. In five eligible seasons, Matt Ryan has won a single playoff game.

Against the same exact competition, Ryan's Falcons scored zero points, Smith's 49ers scored 17 points.

what debate?

Ryan's first 5 years dwarf Smiths in every way measurable.....we'd be literally comparing success versus failure...comparing a mountain to a pebble

and Ryan's coaches didn't draft a QB to replace him...they also didn't bench him

they also didn't trade him away

what's hilarious is pretending there is anything to argue

The ongoing debate as to whether or not Alex Smith can perform at a high level with competent coaching and a competent receiving corp.

The NFL doesn't exist in a vacuum.

Alex Smith hasn't had nearly the coaching, offensive line or receiving corp that Matt Ryan has enjoyed over the course of their respective careers.

You can't control your opinions?

I don't bet on sports individual sports, games, etc.

Actually, I don't gamble at all, anymore. I didn't like Fantasy Football or office football pools because it always seemed like I was betting against a Chiefs player or the Chiefs to "Win" a particular week. It was a very strange feeling for me so I just stopped.

As for Vegas, horse and dog racing, I'd rather relax, drink and enjoy the show. Even though I've won plenty in Vegas over the years, I no longer have any interest in giving my money to the house.

As to your wager, I haven't seen the Chiefs on the field yet. I stated specifically that on paper, ten wins should be their floor.

But for all I know at this point in time, that could be a great overstatement or even possibly, an understatement.

I have no idea until I see them actually play.

He wants to go to a Superbowl, but he never wants to show for camp, help the team, and do it. He is a great player, but he has always seemed like an asshole to me. It's not like he is making $12 an hour putting sod down.

The Falcons begged him to come back. Begged. He had already decided to retire and wanted to spend the first few weeks of two-a-days with his son. The Falcons agreed to those terms and he'll show up in time for the third preseason game.

The guy has nothing left to prove. He's a Hall of Famer and is second only to Jerry Rice in receptions. He's in amazing shape and played lights out last year.

At his age and with his accomplishments, I think the guy deserves a little break.

FYI I feel so strongly about Matt Ryan because I watch them A LOT. I request the Falcons in the CP mock draft every year and have cleaned house drafting for them because I watch them and have a good idea of their strengths and weaknesses.

Matt Ryan is the motor of that team.

He is most certainly NOT an accessory or secondary part.

Frank Gore was the motor of Alex Smiths 49ers offenses.

Whatever bro. He can be in great shape and all that. His juicing and HGH routine obviously have worked well and stayed under the radar. He isn't that old to start with versus an average person trying to put their kids through college, and being worried as fuck they can't do it. He is just playing for stats. The guy is a fantastic player, but not a winner. He will have years to spend with his kids. He is an asshole.

Dude, the Chiefs went 2-14 last year, the Falcons went 13-3 While anything is possible, I highly doubt that the Chiefs will have a better record than Atlanta in 2013.

I'd like to be wrong about that but it would surprise me if the Falcons weren't 11-5 or better. And once again, I haven't even seen the Chiefs play yet under Reid, Smith, Pederson, Sutton, etc. and so on.

We all want Alex Smith to do well (well, maybe not all of us. I do, though.) I just don't think that he is even in the same area code of Matt Ryan in terms of ability as a player.

If we are grading players from 0-100, I'd give Matt Ryan a 94 and I'd give Alex Smith a 82.

That's just my opinion.

This recurring mantra is getting older than Gunther's kotex, so let me make clear my position once and for all:

I don't care if he fails or succeeds. That said, I'm glad he's here to mentor Bray OR, should the Chiefs finally pull their heads from their asses, whatever QB prospect the team chooses to draft in the next year or two.

So lop-dick in Red and Gold to your hearts content, old Smith.

I don't think it'll happen, but if Tony Gonzalez could get 941 yds this year he would overtake Isaac Bruce for fourth all time receiving yards. He's currently sitting in 7th place.
