I bought it from an old couple, he used to take it out west elk hunting... I asked him to be honest and they have been our neighbors and friends for a few years... The old man said if you keep your foot out of it it will get 13 on the highway and about 8 in the city

Tired of paying 200 per night at Myrtle Beach for a Motel .. Gonna take it out a few times, if I love it, I will keep it... If not I will sell it...

I was already offered 3k more than I paid for it so I don't think it will be hard to sell if I decided it wasn't for me...

R8RFAN
08-05-2013, 10:25 AM
Now some details about the cool stuff in it...
Of course ac/heat (vents)
Full stand up shower
Queen size bed in master bedroom
4000 watt generator that is very quiet and is controlled with a push of a button inside
100% self contained if you need to live in a walmart parking lot
got one of those satellite dome dish things on top... Hit the button and it finds the satellite for you.
3 burner stove + convection microwave
band new tires all around (2 weeks ago)
New Awning
push button slideout as seen in pics
electric steps

Far be it from me to come into one of these threads to fart on it, but up there on the side of the overhang- around and under that window- are those shadows or delamination? 'Cause if it's delam it could indicate some structural problems (wood rot) under that skin. Those C class units are notorious for that. Having said that, though, the lack of a window in the front of the nose is definitely in your favor because those were just the worst ever for rain leaks.

When you look in those cabinets around the TV do you see any stains on the walls or ceiling? Or, can you smell faint bleach from the cleanup of said stains?

I've seen what's under the surface of that nose when it needs rebuilding, and it ain't much. Like, 2x2 and Luan.

I know what you are seeing.. He kept it under a cover and it got so hot it discolored parts of that, it also caused some of the stickers to start to peel... He parked it in my driveway yesterday to go over it with a fine tooth comb and I did... There is no water damage anywhere in the cabinets nose or anything else

Depends on the initial purchase price... + it's a pain in the ass to find clean places when you have a dog...

I like sleeping in my bed also... A bed that I know is clean with clean sheets and comforter + no bed bugs

I have nice lakes and places to go within a 50 mile radius and I am only 200 miles from the beach.

Some electric hookup spots can be had for 15 bucks a night... Go to Myrtle Beach with a dog and after taxes you will drop 200 per night easy unless you want to go to a roach motel.

Here, I'll make you feel better. See that black lock plate on his entry door? ONE company makes those for almost every RV on the road. And there are about 30 different key sets. So, you're sittin' there at the campground surrounded by 50 or 100 or 200 other units, and the odds are, well, you're a math guy...

That probably didn't sway you, I guess.

They're just in a weird place in my mental space that just doesn't work for me. Want to stay in a nice place? Get a hotel. Want to go out and experience nature? That's what tents are for.

They're just too damned expensive (both price and cost of ownership) for me to understand the value proposition.

But so expensive when you figure the upfront cost + insurance + upkeep + gas + campground fees.
I figure get a nice motel room and do some hiking.

I love camping though so I do get it. Thats why we always owned one of these. It was a daily driver, camping was usually free.

I miss having one..these are getting dang expensive as well.

There are a lot of variables you can play with, but a bit of Googling suggest RV's will save you around $100-$150 per day compared to hotels. (Part of that is assuming you're cooking your own meals rather than eating out.)

So, if we assume you're spending around $25k on a mid-level, used RV, a rough guesstimate (ignoring stuff like time value of money, maintenance, and interest rates) says you'll get your money out of it if you use it for 200 nights or more.

Maybe someday when I retire...

Old man and his wife are not in good health and asked me to come down and take pictures to post on craigslist to sell it for them... I got to looking at it and asked him what his cash bottom dollar monday he would take for it... and everything that goes with it including a the car dolly.winegard roadtrip HD satellite antenna (900.00 +) brand new set of tires 1000.00+ all the shit that goes with it including cover and brand new awning (600.00) all silverware, plates, utensils, all supplies needed + many not needed.. a 450 dollar electric heater to go to extreme cold places (I won't need it) mini eureka boss vacuum cleaner, 25 gallons of gas, full propane system. 4000 watt on board generator. Complete Dish Network HD receiver, DVD/VHS combo player

He gave me a price and I took it... I did not try to beat him down a bit.

I gave him exactly what he asked for it... And it's nowhere near NADA

Glad you like it, but it wouldn't be for me.

1. Seems like driving it on the highway would be stressful.
2. Once you get somewhere, you might want to see something 20 miles a way. Which seems like a pain to take your whole house with you.
3. Pulling a car behind you to facilitate 2, would just make 1 that much worse.

I'll either fly or drive a reasonable vehicle and stay in hotels. If I want to camp, I'll tent camp.

Seems like it'd be easier and much less of a headache to simply rent an RV for a vacation. Wouldn't gave to worry about tags, taxes, maintenance, insurance, storage etc.

Though (as I've mentioned in this thread) I don't understand the desire for the RV in the first place, I can understand the desire to own rather than rent. If you rent it each time, it FEELS like it's a lot of money. If you buy one, all your vacations FEEL like they're cheap.

In short, people who own RV's probably take them out many times more than people who have to rent them.

You'd have to use it A LOT to justify the aforementioned headaches, in my opinion.

And it's really cheap for you since you've already got an RV storage pad. Or is it a hockey rink now?

From what ive seen renting an RV is even more expensive than getting a hotel, and thats not even taking into account the gas.

Ive thought about buying one and then renting it out the rest of the year. Im a big poker player and my dream is to travel around to the country to the different sites (Las Vegas, Atlantic City, Florida, New Orleans etc etc) Would have to think one could justify the initial investment then BButif you are using it only 2 to 3 times of the yr doesnt seem worth it

I like to think of it as a "half of my yard that I don't have to mow" more than anything.

If you bought an RV and parked it on the other half, it would kill the grass and you wouldn't have to mow at all.

Looks like fun bruh. I've been too busy to hit the wilderness this summer, but I did just purchase a flight to Hawaii -- headed out to the volcanoes in a few weeks. sand. surf. down time.

Not completely, it's a 04 model and the Winegard Dome Antenna does not support HD on DTV but it does on Dish .. I don't have an HDTV in it yet but I will get one when I find one that will fit in the cabinet..http://www.winegard-antennas.com/Images/Winegard_Antennas.jpg

They're just in a weird place in my mental space that just doesn't work for me. Want to stay in a nice place? Get a hotel. Want to go out and experience nature? That's what tents are for.

They're just too damned expensive (both price and cost of ownership) for me to understand the value proposition.

The killer for me is you are stuck with a monster boat when you arrive where you are going unless you have a tow car.

I'm pretty sure you can get a mounting bracket that will allow you to mount a flat-screen in the same cabinet as the little TV, except you can get a giant fucker.

would you be able to swivel the tv out of the way to get into those cabs when needed?

or maybe you need to forfeit the cabs for a smaller set that will make room for a wide screen.

The brown cushion about 3 inches below the bottom of the tv is a slide out bed / attic area so it really should have an inch or so clearance below that.
