Just saw in my fantasy football app (no link) that Alex Gordon will be out of the lineup tonight. His child was born today, and he's taking today off because he doesn't want to go on the paternity list while we're in a playoff race. With Alex and his family living in KC, I figure since we're on a homestand is the reason for it, but you gotta give the guy major props for being a dad, and helping KC win.

I think he was referring more to the fact that Alex decided to just take this 1 day off to be with his wife and newborn while they're here in town rather than taking a week off like he could have, but then miss a very important road series in Detroit coming up.

I am not sure the minimum time, but that only matters if you replace the player on the 25-man MLB roster while taking paternity time.
