Sports reporter blogs his own suicide

I searched and didn't see anything about this, but it was a Kansas City man that planned and blogged about his suicide for month and months, only to have his blog go live after the fact.
Anyone else heard about this? I find it both sad and oddly fascinating. Who would do this? Having lived through a friend's suicide, I was going to skip over it, but of course, curiosity took over and I clicked on his blog.
