Kansas City Chiefs have 8 players listed on first injury report for Jacksonville Jaguars game
By Joel Thorman on Sep 4 2013, 5:42p 20

There are two important injuries to keep an eye on with the Kansas City Chiefs game on Sunday against the Jacksonville Jaguars: G Jon Asamoah and LB Nico Johnson. Both were hurt in the third preseason game and neither has practiced since then.

The bad news is that Asamoah did not practice again on Wednesday. This is also the day that the Chiefs must release their first injury report of the season. Officially, Asamoah was a DNP with a calf injury. I don't know anything about the nature of Asamoah's injury but given the amount of time he has missed -- including the first game week practice -- I would venture to say that his status for Sunday is at least questionable. Geoff Schwartz would be the fill-in at guard if Asamoah can't go.

The Nico Johnson injury isn't as concerning because he's not a starter. Andy Reid said earlier on Wednesday that Nico might practice. Turns out, he didn't. It's a high ankle sprain for Nico.

The full injury report:

Did not practice: Jon Asamoah (calf), Nico Johnson (ankle) Allen Bailey (non-injury related ... his father passed away)

Limited practice: None

Full practice: Quintin Demps (hamstring), Eric Fisher (shoulder), James-Michael Johnson (groin), Travis Kelce (knee), Donald Stephenson (shoulder)

Practicing in full on the Wednesday before a Sunday game is a very good sign for being healthy enough to play. Expect those guys to be available.

This is the first time the Chiefs have to reveal any injury information so some of this stuff is going to be new to us. But we knew about Kelce's knee and Fisher's shoulder.

Good to see Kelce and Fisher as full participants.

Happy Rosh Hashana, Schwartz! You're a starter now!

Middle backers have to be Johnson's. Outside backers have to start with H.

Let Asomoah rest, we're playing a 2-14 team that got worse during the offseason.

We replaced Cassel, Crennel and Pioli with Smith ,Reid and Dorsey. Dude , we are re-entering an era of Marty/Vermiel proportions with 6 probowlers on the roster . Meanwhile Gabbert has a sore thumb.

Chiefs 42 Jags 3

Yeah and Jags did almost the same exact thing. That team is certainly improved. The fact that you haven't done your research is kind of short sighted. Calm down. Oh and since when does CP take the Pro Bowl seriously? Oh wait, when it suits them. Gotcha.

Schwartz starts in Asamoah's place.
Schwartz steals Asamoah's starting job permanently.

Chiefs re-assign Asamoah to start learning to play Center.
Asamoah takes Hudson's job as soon as he's ready.

Done.

WTF are you are talking about?

You still have the same shitty weak minded QB, a 1st time head coach and no pro bowlers.

Should KC have had 6? No but at least 3 were legit. The Jags wouldn't have any legit 3rd team probowlers.

Dumber than a box of hair.

I don't study the Jags, but they have a '12 chiefs QB situation, decent online, bad defense and only MJD. Lewis doesn't scare me.

Their DT Marks had a good preseason. Alualu (DE) and Pozluzny (MLB) are solid. Their front seven isn't bad.

So this really is MJD and scrap to prepare for. If we lose this game, it will truly be a disaster.

We should house these guys.
