I find myself without the desire to log in here...

In this case, party 1 left 6 negative reps for a guy in one day, which I probably won't do anything about if it's just that. But his comments were over-the-top abusive so that put him over the edge. I know lots of us have maxed out our neg rep on somebody in a day, maybe a couple days in a row. I get that. Do it once or twice and you'll probably be fine. Get a reputation for being in the middle of those skirmishes and you'll get zeroed out for a while. It's not really a big deal. You just can't leave negative rep. If leaving neg rep is important enough to leave over, I don't know how to help.

Being so bold as to have a different opinion to Pawn would generally earn one a few nasty and borderline hateful neg rep messages from the fellow. I had asked to change it back in a thread but I was just laughed at and humiliated. Then I had several members tell me to PM Bob Dole. So I sent Bob Dole a PM and waited for the change but he must have been busy so I sent several more PMs and the very next day my user name was back to normal. True story. Thank you Bob Dole I will never forget.


For this reason I share my story to all the butthurt mod victims out there that if you PM Bob Dole he will restore you to sanity.

We used to get a dozen complaints about rep per week. When we adopted this rule, it's turned into 3 per year. I'll keep that rule around at the risk of losing one insecure baby every 6-8 years when they get zeroed out. Rep had been such a huge source of contention that everything has been revamped and reset multiple times. It's not worth spending time policing and I agree that most of them police themselves. But it's also a tool used to alienate and drive away n00bs so we need some rules to govern it as well.
