View Full Version : Chiefs Charles' quad injury - how serious?

Kansas City Chiefs RB Jamaal Charles left today’s game against the Jacksonville Jaguars game early with a quad injury. Trainers took a look at him and he was on the exercise bike soon after, but he never returned to the game. We will keep an eye on his status throughout the week.

Before he left, he had 16 carries for 77 yards and a score. He also caught 3 passes for 23 yards.

The Kansas City Chiefs planned on relying on Jamaal Charles a ton this season. It seems that the injury isn’t too serious if he was trying to keep it warm on the sideline on the exercise bike. He may miss some time, but it doesn’t sound significant…. but I am no doctor.

There wasn’t much reason for Charles to return to the game. The Jaguars were only able to put a couple of points on the board. With Charles on the sideline, Knile Davis is the next man up off of the bench to take the work load. From NFL Spinzone

He returned to the game. I would presume to show he was fine. And he seems to be.

Whoever NFL Spinzone is, they should have to watch the game before they are allowed to comment on it.

You apparently didn't watch the game. He's fine.

Deep thigh bruise I bet. Those are painful MOFO's and can last up to 2 weeks.

He went back in the game for a play or two. THen came back and slammed down his helmet(radio) and took a seat on the bench. It could have been injury or just pulled from the game.

@APdaveskretta: #Chiefs came out of game healthy, too. Andy Reid sounds unconcerned about dings to Branden Albert, Jamaal Charles.

He was pulled. Chiefs PR posted about it on Twitter.

Sucks he hurt his leg. Just like a horse, I guess it's time to put him down.

I'm just glad that he didn't become a quadriplegic after landing on his head. That was nasty.

Yeah, I was surprised that the quad was the issue rather than his neck. That looked brutal.

Jamaal Charles - RB - Chiefs
A league source tells ProFootballTalk that Jamaal Charles (quad) will be "totally fine."
Charles briefly left Sunday's win over the Jags to get his thigh checked out. He quickly came back in the game and got one carry before calling it a day with 100 total yards on 19 touches. Charles will be all systems go for next week's game against the Cowboys.
